Most people misunderstand the Canvas breach. It wasn’t merely “an outage.” It was a trust failure—at SaaS scale. I shared a quick take last week, but here’s a deeper view published in CyberScoop: https://lnkd.in/g5QiR-BJ The uncomfortable truth is that SaaS platforms have evolved beyond simple applications; they have become identity infrastructure. When identity within that platform fails, the impact extends beyond IT—it affects operations, reputation, and continuity. This leads us to a new resilience metric: Instead of asking, “Can an attacker get in?” we should be asking, “How much can they take, how long can they persist, and how fast can we recover?” What leaders need to change now is to stop treating SaaS risk like uptime math and start treating it as governance and identity control. The next major incident will not revolve around a firewall; it will be about inherited trust.
