Building a healthcare system based on trust and collaboration.

Info

Driven by a core challenge: advancing medicine while keeping data confidential. The story of Tune Insight begins with a simple yet fundamental observation: in the health sector, data is both an invaluable asset and a sensitive resource to manipulate. Their use is crucial to advancing medical research, developing new treatments and improving care. However, legitimate concerns about confidentiality, strict regulations and ethical issues are holding back progress. Faced with this paradox Tune Insight founders decided to act. They asked themselves a daring question: what if we could access knowledge without directly manipulating the data? In 2021 at EPFL’s Data Security Laboratory, our four co-founders developed the foundations for a secure solution that combines homomorphic encryption, multi-party computing, differential privacy and federated learning which is how Tune Insight began. Our mission is to transform the paradigm of the data economy into an insight economy that better protects sensitive data, that is more secure, fair, and protective of privacy and confidentiality rights

Heard at SantExpo: Europe is entering a new phase in Real World Evidence (RWE), with France emerging as one of the most dynamic ecosystems in this transformation. Over recent months, momentum has significantly accelerated around sovereign and federated health data collaboration, with a clear ambition: enabling large-scale, high-quality RWE generation while maintaining strict standards of privacy, governance, and institutional data control. A key milestone in this evolution is our strategic partnership with SOFTWAY MEDICAL, aimed at developing a national federated health data network across France. This model marks an important shift for pharmaceutical companies, biotech players, CROs, and research institutions across Europe. The long-standing tension between data access and regulatory compliance is being structurally addressed. Rather than centralizing sensitive health data, this approach enables analysis directly within healthcare institutions, supporting: ✔ multicentric feasibility studies ✔ rapid and privacy-preserving cohort identification ✔ near real-time generation of Real World Evidence ✔ full alignment with institutional governance frameworks This momentum is already becoming operational. Early pilot groups in France, including Groupement des Hôpitaux de l'Institut Catholique de Lille and Groupe AHNAC, are joining the initiative, representing approximately 30 healthcare facilities and nearly 3 million patients. At scale, the ecosystem built around Softway Medical includes: - 1,400 hospitals and clinics - 1,000 imaging centers - 400 laboratories - and hundreds of additional outpatient care structures This creates a significant foundation for federated, high-quality RWE generation across France. Importantly, this infrastructure is being developed in alignment with broader European objectives under the European Health Data Space (EHDS): interoperable, privacy-by-design, sovereign, and scalable. For life sciences organizations focused on accelerating feasibility studies, post-market surveillance, patient pathway analysis, or collaborative research, France is becoming a strategic hub to closely monitor. And this is only the beginning. #data #innovation #healthcare #healthtech

Yesterday at the Innovation Evening organized by SOFTWAY MEDICAL Group at PariSanté Campus, a discussion centered on a major challenge: how to accelerate medical research without compromising health data privacy. During this roundtable, moderated by Sherley B. (Deputy CEO, Strategy, Innovation & Data), we brought together Dr. Sylvain Meylan (CHUV) and Juan Ramón Troncoso-Pastoriza (CEO of Tune Insight) around a concrete use case: sepsis. 🎤 “The current medical paradox is simple: to treat better, we need to share our experiences, but to protect the patient, we must isolate their data. Today, we will explore how to break this paradox with a concrete case: sepsis.” A structured exchange around three key themes. Dr. Meylan, attending physician and researcher at the Infectious Diseases Department of CHUV, highlighted the clinical reality of a condition as fast-moving as it is critical: sepsis. A life-threatening emergency where every minute counts, and where data fragmentation remains a major barrier to early detection and treatment optimization. Juan Troncoso presented the vision of Tune Insight: enabling collaboration between healthcare institutions without ever moving patient data. Through a federated approach, algorithms travel to the data, learn locally, and generate collective value while ensuring full data sovereignty. Finally, the discussion opened up a broader perspective: the shift from isolated initiatives to a territorial collective intelligence. By connecting healthcare institutions, fragmented data can be transformed into a true “digital shield” serving public health. Beyond the sepsis use case, this approach paves the way for a new generation of multicentric research (faster, safer, and more collaborative), aligned with European ambitions such as the EHDS and health data sovereignty. The evening concluded with a key announcement: the launch of the Health Data Valorization offering, powered by the integration of the Tune Insight platform within the Softway Medical ecosystem. 🚀 A further step toward a shared ambition: building a national federated research network, starting with the connection of institutions equipped with Hospital Manager, and enabling large-scale collaborative research initiatives. 🙏 Many thanks to the speakers and teams involved for these insightful discussions, and to everyone actively contributing to shaping the future of healthcare.

They didn’t know it yet, but… a kid racing around Swiss vineyards on a makeshift “ambulance bike” would one day help transform healthcare — not from behind a steering wheel, but through data. 🚲 Born to a nurse mother and a teacher father, Frederic Pont grew up surrounded by two powerful callings: caring and educating. For a while, he thought his path was clear. He dreamed of becoming an ambulance driver, answering emergency calls and saving lives. He even customized his bicycle to look the part and spent afternoons on imaginary rescue missions. That dream ended abruptly one weekend when a comic book showed him the harsh reality of serious accidents. It was a sobering moment — and a turning point. Looking back, he realizes his parents’ influence never left. Their dedication to service shaped his desire to make a difference in healthcare. 🚀 Today, as a cofounder at Tune Insight, he’s proud to contribute to improving healthcare across Europe — this time by unlocking the power of data to drive better decisions, better research, and better outcomes. Sometimes childhood dreams don’t disappear. They evolve. And when they do, they can take you exactly where you’re meant to be. #data #AI #career
