On May 15, we took part in SP Innovation Week 2026, joining a panel hosted by Instituto Terra, a leading environmental restoration organization in Brazil, at the Green Future Stage in São Paulo. Opening the panel, Instituto Terra, emphasized that ESG commitments must go beyond discourse and be grounded in consistent action, long-term collaboration, and measurable outcomes. Representing Hatch, Kezer Almeida joined leaders from Zurich Insurance, and L'OCCITANE Group (B Corp) to discuss the role companies can play in integrating sustainability into core business decisions and scaling real impact. The conversation also highlighted our partnership with Instituto Terra, focused on environmental education and technical capacity building through support for the Center for Ecosystem Restoration Studies (NERE). The initiative reflects the belief that lasting impact depends on empowering people and expanding knowledge that can be effectively applied within local communities and ecosystems. Through partnerships like this, our team continues to advance ESG in practice while helping scale positive impact and support the sustainable development of the regions where it operates. #Sustainability #PositiveChange

What if the biggest risk in tunneling isn’t the ground, but how projects are structured to deal with it? Even the most extensive site investigations cannot fully define subsurface conditions. Reza Varkani, P.Eng. Varkani explores how outcomes are shaped less by the volume of data collected and more by how contracts allocate risk, define responsibilities, and enable teams to respond when conditions change. These insights will be explored at the ITA World Tunnel Congress 2026 (WTC2026), where Reza will share results from a study examining how contract strategy can influence whether a project succeeds or struggles. Want a smoother start-up and stronger ramp-up performance? In Part 3 of our Ramp-up series, you’ll learn how to set your project up for success long before Stage 4 begins. This blog shows how a disciplined, expert-led approach to commissioning, particularly in Stage 3, helps you reduce risk, improve safety, and create a more predictable path to operations. It also walks through the five commissioning stages so you can better understand where value is created or lost. Gain practical insights you can apply right away, from strengthening system-level testing and risk planning to avoiding the common pitfalls of compressed timelines. The result is fewer surprises, faster stabilization, and better long-term project outcomes. If you’re looking to improve ramp-up performance and protect project value, this blog offers clear, actionable takeaways to help you get there: https://lnkd.in/exStS9UA Authored by Hatch experts: Britt M. and Josh Lilley, MBA, PEng, ICD.D #Hatch #ProjectDelivery #RiskManagement #RampUp #DigitalDelivery #ProjectControls

Today, we recognize International Day for Women in Maritime and reflect on this year’s theme, From Policy to Practice: Advancing Gender Equality for Maritime Excellence. Across our global Ports and Terminals team, women are making a meaningful impact at every stage of the project lifecycle. From planning and design to delivery and operations, their expertise helps shape resilient, efficient systems that keep trade moving around the world. Their contributions extend beyond technical excellence. They bring diverse perspectives, strengthen collaboration, and help turn commitments to gender equality into tangible outcomes across our projects and teams. Advancing gender equality in maritime requires action at every level. It means creating opportunities, supporting growth, and ensuring inclusive practices are reflected in how we work and deliver. To all the women across our teams and the industry, thank you for the impact you make every day.

The ACE Terminal Expansion is reshaping Newcastle Airport into a future‑ready international gateway designed for long‑term regional growth. Currently underway, the project expands the terminal footprint by 50 percent to support forecast passenger growth of up to 2.3 million travellers per year and enable new domestic and international routes. Delivered within a live airport environment, the expansion focuses on improving passenger flow, baggage processing, and overall airport functionality without disrupting day‑to‑day operations. Sustainability is embedded throughout the design, with the international terminal achieving a 5‑Star Green Star Design rating. Once complete, the expansion will strengthen regional connectivity and help unlock lasting economic and community benefits. How do you extend the life of aging tunnels without rebuilding them from scratch? Across rail and transit networks, owners are facing tighter clearances, higher performance expectations, and aging assets that were never designed for today’s demands. In this blog, Gary Kramer and Saeid Rashidi explore how targeted rehabilitation strategies, including invert lowering supported by advanced modelling and collaborative delivery, can unlock new capacity while minimizing cost, risk, and service disruption. These approaches and real project insights will be explored in greater depth by Gary at the ITA World Tunnel Congress 2026 (WTC2026), where he will share lessons learned from modernizing legacy tunnel infrastructure in constrained environments. As energy systems evolve, hydropower continues to play a critical role in supporting reliable and flexible power systems. Through refurbishment, repowering, and new development, hydropower helps extend asset life, improve performance, and enhance overall system efficiency while supporting the integration of variable renewable energy. Our teams work across the full hydropower and dams value chain, from greenfield developments to upgrades and modernization, applying advanced engineering and digital approaches to help optimize asset performance and deliver long-term value. As demand grows and grids become more complex, hydropower remains essential to maintaining stability, enabling energy storage, and supporting a more optimized and resilient energy system.
