  • Your org chart shows who reports to who. It doesn't show who actually works with who. In every workforce analysis we run, the collaboration patterns tell a completely different story than the reporting lines. The "junior" analyst who's the informal go-to for three different departments. The director who spends 40% of their time on work that should sit two levels down. The cross-functional projects that exist nowhere on paper but consume half the organisation's energy. Traditional org design tools miss this entirely. They optimise for hierarchy, not workflow. For titles, not tasks. For structure, not outcomes. When you map actual work patterns, you see where bottlenecks really live, which roles are over-extended and where collaboration breaks down. That's the data your clients need to make smart organisational decisions. Not another PowerPoint deck with boxes and lines. #OrganisationalDesign #Consulting #WorkforceStrategy

The richest of experiences today in the AMP Boardroom, in our 'AI and Humans at Work' Roundtable, sharing stories of transformation, learnings, experiences and research. Filled up my cup and more - enormous thanks Rebecca McDermott Victoria Stuart Gareth Flynn for co-hosting. The energy and magic was in the group - thanks for collaborating Jessica Campbell Melanie Cole Nicole Trudgett Lucy Nowland Wayne Reade Paola Molino Elisha Parks Tara Steyn Kylie Kelty @di tilly Cathy Byars Vanessa Pratt Jordanna Phillips Biggest takeaways for me: 1. There are some very smart leaders who are defining the way work is architected in the future - the next generations and company future is in their hands. 2. The human cost is unplanned - insight drop from Gareth Flynn - most companies don't have a plan for human deployment and intentional design - a high risk gap 3. AI transformation is a human problem not a technology one - Stanford research: https://lnkd.in/gMvum5AW 4. You cannot have a workforce strategy without a work strategy 5. AI can rob people of their highest energy tasks - our job is to know what those tasks are and protect, then amplify them 6. We need to marry up work tasks with the people experience 7. The HR function needs to re-wire to create business value in the new world 8. Put yourself first: the first step in organising your approach to human & AI work design is to start with your own function - transform, get runs on the board and upskill all at the same time My brain is exploding - thank you everyone! #futureofwork #ai #human Beamible TQSolutions

I sat down with Sam Schlimper, Managing Director at Randstad Enterprise, a strategic partner of Beamible, because: a) I knew it would be fun (I was correct) b) You need to hear what she has to say if you’re at all interested in how AI will impact workforces c) The case study she shares on the Sales function might be right on point for your growth strategy. "The way to get a return on investment from AI is to think about how you redesign the work. Then you get a much better return on investment." Most organisations are pouring energy into AI adoption, the tools, the training, the change comms, However, if you don’t redesign the work - who does it and what the roles and team design looks like, you can’t capture the returns! I’m convinced there is a new model for productivity and I think Sam just revealed it. Check out this 4 min clip to hear it: https://lnkd.in/gMUndJPV Sam's team has developed a new method to redesign work, built from years of real-world testing. Depending on clients’ appetite for change: ‘Pruning’ reimagines workflows from scratch, pushes returns to 30–40% and ‘Gooing’ - named after what happens inside a chrysalis, is for organisations ready to dissolve the old model entirely and build something new. 1. Understand what the impact is and how it relates to tasks  2. Understand who your people are, what they do and what they enjoy - the people closest to the work are the most valuable design partners. They know where their energy goes and where it drains. Map that, and you find the small number of tasks that genuinely move the dial. Everything else is where AI earns its keep. “When AI becomes standard infrastructure for every competitor, the differentiator won't be the tool. It'll be the soul of your organisation.” And my favourite bit: what work energises Sam most? Full article + video conversation linked below. Worth a read if you're thinking about what work should actually look like on the other side of this transformation (and how to get there!). 👇 #FutureOfWork #WorkDesign #AI #Leadership

  • "We're seeing 30% productivity gains from AI." Really? How are you measuring that? Most organisations can't answer this question because they're measuring AI adoption, not AI impact. They count: Number of Copilot licenses purchased Percentage of employees using ChatGPT Hours of AI training delivered But they can't tell you: Which tasks actually got faster Where quality improved vs. declined What people did with the time AI saved them AI washing is the new greenwashing. Companies claim transformation without the data to back it up. The organisations actually winning with AI start with baseline measurement. They know what work takes how long before they automate it. Then they can prove ROI, optimise deployment and scale what works. Without that foundation, you're not implementing AI, you're hoping. #AI #Productivity #WorkforceStrategy

  • The average knowledge worker spends a huge amount of their time in meetings. But here's what the data tells us: more time is spent preparing for those meetings, following up and coordinating with people who weren't there. That's a huge amount of someone's week on coordination work. When you understand where coordination overhead lives, you can eliminate the handovers, clarify the decision rights and give people back the time to do work that matters. #WorkforceDesign #Productivity #Leadership

I'm getting fired up about all this AI productivity talk and how it all depends on individuals' appetite for change and willingness to get on board. Getting productivity gains through the AI lever is a strategic question and WILL NOT HAPPEN without the organisational agenda, drive, strategy and investments being made from the top. Here are my thoughts - I'd love to hear yours.

AI is often approached as a technology initiative, but the organisations seeing the most impact understand it’s really an opportunity to elevate the work people do. 95% see no real return, not because the tech fails, but because the roles and work is never changed. In our latest webinar, MYOB’s People and Culture leaders shared how they approached AI differently. Not just as a tech rollout, but as a workforce transformation. The redesigned work at the task level, embedded AI champions across trams and focussed on human AND tech… not just tools. Now teams are spending less time on low-value tasks, more time on meaningful work and AI is being adopted in ways that actually create impact. Some of the lessons are surprisingly simple → 2 parts human : 1 part tech - Mindset, skillset, toolset → Focused on tasks, not roles → Shifted effort to higher-value work → Scaled through teams, not centrally → Prioritised adoption over perfection If you want to see practical examples of AI driving real change, check out this article, or ping me for the webinar replay! #WorkforceTransformation #FutureofWork #AIAdoption

AI is changing work, but not in the way many think. It’s not replacing jobs wholesale; it’s reshaping tasks. Work is being broken down into elemental pieces so the right agent (human or machine) can do it. The opportunity lies in humans getting to focus on what makes work meaningful: creativity, joy, and innovation, while some of the drudgery is automated. Expert Chris Metcalfe puts this beautifully - and we agree with his POV! #FutureOfWork #AI #WorkDesign #Innovation #HumanExperience
