🏃🏾♀️ Boxer Athletics Club continues to make us proud 🏃🏾♂️ From 12–17 May 2026, athletes from 54 African countries competed at the African Championships in Accra, Ghana. We are proud to announce that our very own Karabo More delivered an outstanding performance by winning gold in the women’s 1500m event. 🥇 Her victory not only crowned her African champion, it also earned her automatic qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, taking place this September. This achievement marks another major milestone in the proud history of Boxer Athletics Club and reflects the dedication, discipline, and resilience that define our athletes. Karabo is also the first BAC athlete to win a medal at an International Athletics Championship! At Boxer, we are especially proud of Karabo not only for her success on the track, but for the passion, commitment, and perseverance she continues to demonstrate every day. A truly special morning at Khanyisa School for the Visually Impaired 💙 The Boxer CSR team recently had the privilege of visiting Khanyisa School in KwaDwesi, where we spent time with the incredible learners and staff, sharing moments of connection, joy, and inspiration. As part of the visit, Boxer donated groceries, school shoes, stationery bags, and solar lights to support learners who do not have reliable access to electricity at home. We were warmly welcomed by the school community and treated to a heartfelt choir performance that made the day even more memorable. A proud highlight of the visit was officially unveiling Khanyisa School as the 49th school to be adopted into the Boxer School Club programme — a meaningful milestone as Boxer celebrates 49 years of serving South African communities. At Boxer, we believe that investing in education and supporting young people is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting impact in our communities. 👨🎓 Two New Milestones for the Boxer Training Academy 👨🎓 The Boxer Training Academy recently marked two significant milestones, reinforcing Boxer’s commitment to developing future leaders within our business. Recently, 40 employees commenced their learnership journey at our Training Facility at Boxer's Head Office in Westville, KZN. This cohort represents a key achievement for Boxer, as it is the first time 40 in-store trainees have been enrolled into a single NQF Level 5 learnership. These talented individuals are currently completing the Occupational Certificate: Retail Chain Store Manager. This milestone is further strengthened by the fact that the programme is now delivered under Boxer’s own accreditation, rather than through an external training provider. This reflects the continued growth and maturity of the Boxer Training Academy and our investment in building internal capability. The programme, facilitated by Amanda Zungu, has been designed to create an engaging and practical learning environment, supporting participants as they develop the skills required for leadership in a retail context. A highlight of the week was an address by our Group Executive: Operations, Chris Theron. He shared valuable insights on leadership, emphasising the critical role managers play in shaping, guiding and developing their teams. His message reinforced the importance of leadership that is grounded in mentorship, accountability and support. Two communities, one big Boxer moment. ❤️ We proudly opened the doors to our newest Superstores in Empangeni and Secunda, including our very first store in Secunda. The Empangeni opening formed part of the launch of the much-anticipated Prince Buthelezi Mall, making it an even more special milestone. We also marked the occasion by giving back to the local community through donations of school stationery and much-needed groceries to Sikhanyisa Primary School in Ezidedele and Masakhane High School in Ndabayekhe. From singing and dancing to full trolleys and smiling faces, both openings were a true celebration of community, value and growth. A powerful weekend for Boxer Athletics Club Glenrose Xaba led from the front with a world-class performance at the Istanbul Half Marathon, clocking an exceptional 1:07:03 to secure 3rd place. This run elevates her to the second-fastest South African woman in history over 21.1km, now just behind Elana Meyer’s 1:06:44. A major breakthrough — improving from 1:08 and edging ever closer to the national record. A performance that reflects both consistency and ambition at the highest level.
