We'll be at Commodity Trading Week Europe next 6-7th May, and it feels like a particularly interesting moment to be having these conversations. Markets moving fast, supply chains remain disrupted, and AI is moving beyond experimentation into something tangible for trading organisations. But while the technology is advancing quickly, many organisations are still held back. That's where we've been focusing our efforts at Publicis Sapient; bringing more agility into trading operations, from trade capture to PPA management and regulatory compliance, while experimentating with new capabilities we are excited to show and discuss. Across two sessions, the discussion covered the barriers firms face when entering new markets, and how exchanges are adapting their models to attract and support participation. In these practical sessions, industry leaders shared different perspectives from different regions on the evolving landscape. I enjoyed moderating the order and execution management platforms panel today at the Technology and the US Bond Markets Conference hosted by the BOND DEALERS OF AMERICA and Crisil Coalition Greenwich. Panelists were Dan Eckstein of Virtu Financial, Dylan Parker of Moment, and Dan Tsou of Bloomberg. After a little frivolity discussing Bloomberg's world-famous snack bar (Dan E and I are both BLP alum), we covered trends such as the shift toward multi-asset systems; buy and build rather than buy or build; fragmentation in the trading landscape; the increased importance of automation; and the competitive landscape among order and execution platform providers. Remarkably, AI wasn't mentioned until 14:35 into the 45-minute panel (yes, I marked it down) but it got plenty of airtime the rest of the way, and it was noted that market uptake has meaningfully accelerated over the past 6-12 months.
