Supporting the reduction of greenhouse emissions in the maritime value chain. Last July, we signed contracts with COSCO Shipping Bulk Co. for the charter of two ammonia dual-fuelled Newcastlemax bulk carriers. These vessels will be two of only a handful in the world capable of using ammonia as a marine fuel. This represents an important step towards lowering shipping greenhouse gas emissions in the iron ore seaborne market and moving the maritime sector towards a decarbonised future. 🔗 to learn more in the comments. #BHP #Maritime #Decarbonisation

Interesting signal for where bulk shipping could be heading over the next decade. If ammonia fuelled vessels scale successfully, it won’t just impact shipping emissions it could eventually reshape fuel infrastructure, port investment and even future demand across the ammonia supply chain itself. Big move from BHP and COSCO to push this technology into the mainstream. 🚢
