VP - Financial Control

VP Financial Controller / Head of Finance, US

I am supporting a confidential regulated financial services business with the hire of a VP Financial Controller / Head of Finance for its US operation.

This is a hands on build role for someone with strong experience across trust company finance, custody banking, fiduciary finance, bank financial reporting and financial control.

The key requirement is someone who understands how finance operates in a regulated US banking, trust or custody environment. This person needs to be able to own the accounting framework, general ledger, month end close, financial controls, regulatory reporting and audit process from the ground up.

This is not a role for someone who is used to only managing an established function. The successful candidate needs to be comfortable building processes, creating structure and operating in a lean environment without a large team underneath them from day one.

Key focus areas

• Build the US accounting and financial control framework

• Own the general ledger and month end close process

• Establish finance processes, controls and reporting standards

• Lead regulatory reporting for the US entity

• Coordinate external audit activity

• Work closely with senior leadership across the US business

• Build a scalable finance function as the platform grows

Ideal background

• 7 years+ years of relevant finance, accounting or controllership experience

• Operating at VP level

• Strong trust company, custody banking or fiduciary finance experience

• Experience within a regulated US banking or financial services environment

• Proven ownership of GL, month end close, financial reporting, regulatory returns and audit coordination

• Comfortable being hands on and building from scratch

• Able to operate within an existing leadership structure while taking ownership of the US finance function

This is a high ownership finance seat with real growth potential. The starting point is hands on VP level execution, but the role is expected to grow as the US business scales.
