Vice President of Construction (Commercial Construction)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Construction to lead and scale our commercial construction operations. This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing project execution, operational performance, field leadership, client satisfaction, safety, budgeting, and long-term growth initiatives across multiple commercial construction projects and regions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in commercial construction management, operational leadership, business development support, and team development. This position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work arrangements while maintaining strong engagement with project teams, clients, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all construction operations across commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout
Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, profitability, safety, and project delivery
Oversee project management, field operations, scheduling, quality control, procurement, and resource allocation
Build and mentor high-performing teams including Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel
Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
Drive accountability for project financial performance including budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and margin management
Partner with executive leadership on growth strategy, staffing plans, and operational scalability
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, building regulations, and company policies
Support business development efforts including proposals, presentations, and client pursuits
Monitor industry trends, technology, and best practices to enhance operational excellence
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial construction
Proven success managing large-scale commercial construction operations and multi-project portfolios
Strong expertise in project delivery methods, scheduling, budgeting, contract management, and risk mitigation
Experience leading geographically dispersed teams
Demonstrated ability to drive operational growth and improve profitability
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
Experience with construction management software and reporting systems
Ability to travel periodically to project sites and company meetings as needed
Preferred Experience
Commercial sectors such as healthcare, industrial, multifamily, retail, hospitality, education, or mixed-use
Experience with design-build, negotiated work, and self-perform operations
Background working with both regional and national clients
OSHA certification or strong safety leadership experience
