Position Summary:

Our partner is a mission-driven healthcare organization building and scaling a modern digital platform that directly supports patient wellness and clinical operations. As the platform continues to grow, they are strengthening integration discipline, engineering standards, and architectural ownership by adding a Principal Platform Engineer/Architect. This is for a hands-on technical leader who still writes meaningful code but also thinks across boundaries. React and React Native power the front end. Node.js and TypeScript drive backend services. AWS runs the platform. Terraform defines the infrastructure. An AI layer is live in production using RAG-based patterns, not just simple model calls. If you enjoy being the engineer others align around, and you take pride in protecting system integrity across application, cloud, and regulated healthcare data, this will feel like the right kind of hard.

Experience and Education:

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent experience/field
• 10+ years building production software with JavaScript and TypeScript, including deep backend ownership
• Proven ownership of distributed service architectures with real incident responsibility and postmortems
• Strong AWS architecture experience supporting high-availability services (ECS, Lambda, data stores, storage)
• Infrastructure as Code leadership in Terraform across multiple environments
• Experience building or governing enterprise integrations where schema evolution and downtime matter (Epic preferred)
• Hands-on exposure to production AI patterns (Bedrock or equivalent), including guardrails and validation, not just experimentation

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Act as the hands-on technical authority across web, backend, cloud, and AI-integrated systems
• Architect and evolve distributed services, APIs, and event-driven workflows
• Build and refactor Node.js and TypeScript services for scale, resilience, and maintainability
• Lead AWS architectural decisions across compute and data layers
• Drive Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform across environments
• Establish CI/CD practices that prioritize release safety and production stability
• Define observability standards across logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting
• Serve as the escalation point during production incidents and lead root cause resolution
• Design secure PHI handling patterns, including encryption, audit logging, and access control
• Own enterprise healthcare integrations, including FHIR-based data exchange
• Implement production guardrails for LLM usage, including validation and monitoring
• Raise the engineering bar through architectural guidance, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration
