About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Survey & Mapping Manager to lead and oversee surveying, mapping, and reality capture services across complex construction projects. This role operates in a fast-paced, highly technical environment and is responsible for driving strategy, execution, and quality across terrestrial surveying, drone/UAS mapping, construction layout, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE).
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) with deep construction experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for advancing survey technology and best practices across the field and virtual design teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Ownership
Serve as the PSM of record for survey and mapping services, including terrestrial and drone-based surveys
Lead strategy, development, and execution of:
Construction layout and control
As-built certifications
Drone/UAS mapping programs
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services
Partner with Field Technology and Construction Layout leadership to drive innovation, standardization, and adoption of advanced survey technologies
Certified As-Built Oversight
Certify as-built deliverables in accordance with project and owner requirements
Develop and enforce company-wide standards for as-built data collection, validation, and documentation (grade, site utilities, yard piping, etc.)
Ensure compliance with regulations, client specifications, and internal QA/QC standards
Review and certify deliverables while maintaining professional accountability
Construction Layout Leadership
Oversee jobsite control, benchmarks, and transfer of control
Establish and enforce layout standards for underground utilities, yard piping, process systems, and grading
Coordinate with field leadership on installation sequencing and QA/QC verification
Identify and resolve field discrepancies related to equipment, workflows, or digital project data
Monitor layout personnel performance through field notes, uploads, and reports
Conduct site visits for training, oversight, and best-practice reinforcement
Train and mentor layout operators as needed
Drone / UAS Mapping Services
Oversee all drone/UAS mapping operations
Supervise drone missions to ensure FAA compliance and safe operations
Certify drone survey deliverables
Standardize workflows for photogrammetry, aerial mapping, and drone processing software
Technology & Equipment Management
Troubleshoot survey and layout equipment issues in coordination with vendors
Partner with Field Technology leadership on equipment availability, calibration, and maintenance
Inspect equipment prior to deployment
Coordinate equipment and accessory shipments
Support capital equipment purchasing decisions
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
Support and manage the company’s SUE program
Supervise data collection and documentation for accuracy and completeness
Establish best practices for utility locating, risk mitigation, and SUE deliverables
Additional Responsibilities
Travel as required including to other states
Perform hands-on tasks when needed, including layout execution, laser scanning, drone mapping, data collection, and utility locating
Supervise and mentor team members
Qualifications
Required
Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) license
5+ years of construction surveying experience within the AEC industry
Expert proficiency with survey equipment and survey software
Strong understanding of construction workflows and project delivery teams
Ability to manage complex initiatives, schedules, and competing priorities
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
General knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
Preferred
Experience with VDC/BIM workflows and survey-data integration
Familiarity with drone/UAS operations and processing software
CAD/Revit experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements
This role requires the ability to visit active jobsites and perform physical activities including standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and lifting materials up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and coordination are required to operate equipment and technology safely.
