Responsibilities

  • Support the design of protection and control schemes for substations and utility systems.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control diagrams.
  • Assist with relay protection design, logic development, and settings documentation.
  • Work with substation equipment such as protective relays, circuit breakers, CTs/PTs (instrument transformers), control panels, battery systems, and SCADA/RTU interfaces.
  • Coordinate with physical design, field, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Support upgrades, replacements, and new substation installations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and field-related technical questions.
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, and industry codes.
  • Participate in project meetings and track engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–4 years of experience in substations, protection & control, or power systems/utility engineering.
  • Exposure to substation drawings (schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of protective relays, control circuits, and substation equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with relay manufacturers (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, etc.).
  • Exposure to relay settings, protection schemes, or coordination studies.
  • Utility, consulting, or EPC background.
  • Experience with design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam).
  • Familiarity with power system software (ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, CAPE).
  • EIT or P.E. preferred, but not required.
