The Environmental Exposures and Pediatric, Perinatal, and Reproductive Health (EXPLORE) Lab in the School of Public and Planetary Health at the University of New England is hiring a motivated Research Assistant to work on studies of environmental chemical exposures and pregnancy outcomes.

The EXPLORE Lab seeks a driven research assistant to conduct activities supporting the lab’s research program focused on environmental chemicals and pregnancy outcomes in a prospective epidemiologic study. The Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Samantha Schildroth to conduct literature reviews, data analysis, and manuscript preparation, and will receive mentorship and career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Data management, including data cleaning and preparation
  • Data analysis, including but not limited to:
    • Running statistical models
    • Creating figures and tables
  • Manuscript preparation and dissemination
  • Coordinating research activities
  • Supporting operational activities, including but not limited to:
    • Training and oversight of student researchers
    • Development and maintenance of lab protocols and documentation
    • Preparation of grant proposals
  • Representing the EXPLORE Lab at seminars and professional conferences
Qualifications

Required. BS in public health, epidemiology, biomedical sciences, environmental science, or a related field, with the following attributes and skills:

  • Strong interest in environmental exposures and human health
  • Knowledge of epidemiological principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Effective communication, public speaking, and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management

Preferred. Experience In The Following Areas Will Be Prioritized

  • Data management and analysis
  • Coding, especially in R or SAS
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Reproductive epidemiology
