HGA is hiring a Project Manager to support client operations in Inman, South Carolina. The Project Manager / Construction Manager will oversee a portfolio of capital and infrastructure projects within a chemical manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for end-to-end project execution, including planning, coordination, field oversight, and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is an immediate need with an expected duration of 6–12 months, with potential for extension.
Project and Site Details
All work is performed on-site at an operating chemical manufacturing facility
Portfolio includes a mix of infrastructure, maintenance, and capital projects totaling approximately $5–6M
Projects include installation and replacement of pumps, tanks, and related process equipment
Scope also includes general facility upgrades and small to mid-sized capital improvement projects
Project sizes typically range from $50K to $3M
Projects follow a Front-End Loading (FEL) process, scaled based on project complexity
Work is executed in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated environment with strict safety and compliance requirements
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects concurrently through all phases from initiation to closeout
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and execution plans
Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, operations, maintenance, and contractors
Ensure compliance with PSM requirements, including Management of Change (MOC) processes
Oversee contractor selection, onboarding, and performance in the field
Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives
Provide regular status updates and reporting to leadership and stakeholders
Drive continuous improvement in project execution and site processes
Work Expectations
Primarily on-site role with a standard 40-hour work week
Some flexibility for partial remote work depending on project phase and workload
Preference for candidates located within commuting distance
Required Qualifications
Experience managing capital projects within a PSM-regulated chemical manufacturing environment
Proven ability to deliver projects in the $50K–$3M range
Strong knowledge of construction management and field execution practices
Hands-on experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes
Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and on-site construction activities
Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in industrial settings
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
10 or more years of relevant project management experience in chemical or industrial environments
Background in process engineering or design
PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
