Fiber/OSP Lead Designer
Location: Charlotte, N.C.

Compensation: $50,000 - $70,000 (based on experience)
Travel: 25%
TEP is seeking a full-time Lead Designer in our Charlotte, N.C. office. As a Lead Designer, you will serve as an integral member of our fiber engineering team, working on projects such as: dark fiber, enterprise, E-Rate, and fiber to the home (FTTH). Lead Designer Responsibilities
Prepare and develop detailed construction and permitting drawing packages, using AutoCAD
Coordinate preparation of design, details, plans and drawings within assigned task areas
Devise new approaches to problems and prepare or modify drawings, monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and TEP standards
Communicate with fellow employees and managers to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects and proper communication of any issues
Recognize areas of concern or question, and clearly communicate those concerns to your manager, providing possible solution(s) to the issue
Provide support to all team members by assisting in prioritizing and managing workloads
May assist with client interaction to include correspondence to clients, problem resolution, and final reports to meet required deadlines
May assist with the training of new entry-level designers/drafters
Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of direct experience with fiber network designs, must have a basic understanding of industry engineering and permitting standards
4+ years of direct AutoCAD experience (preferably using AutoCAD Civil 3D)
Ability to multi-task and work on different projects simultaneously
Ability to receive direction and work independently or with a team depending on the assignment
Strong technical, written, and oral communications skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to manage project completion deadlines
Time management skills
Understanding of proprietary information
Ability to problem solve
