  • Assists supervisor in performing skilled tasks to maintain automotive equipment.
  • Performs extensive automotive and diesel repairs and maintenance on all Academy vehicles.
  • Works with Academy instructional staff scheduling all driving programs using CJA vehicles.
  • Assist with maintaining inventories of vehicle parts, accessories, tools, and shop equipment. Ensures adequate supplies through purchase or cannibalization of wrecked/unusable vehicles .
  • Performs shop maintenance and upkeep as required.
  • Coordinates with Academy staff for bus transportation for students to and from the range.
  • Performs other duties as required. Uniforms, tools, and equipment will be provided.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of specialized coursework in automotive, diesel, or body repair
  • At least four (4) years of experience independently performing duties related to the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Possess a CDL (activity bus/school bus) or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire.

Additional Comments

About You:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices used to diagnose vehicles using computerized test equipment
  • Skill in the use of testing and measuring instruments
  • Ability to interpret technical service manuals
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, sit, stand, walk, and drive
  • Ability to work under general supervision
  • Ability to attend evening training classes, as necessary
