Employment type: Permanent, full-time, 1 year contract renewal cycle.

Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 pa (dependent on experience).

Start date: 1 September 2026, with an expectation to attend orientation during the final week of August.

About The Role

York Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated Learning Specialist to join our Jump Start academic support program for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is being offered on a full-time basis.

Jump Start is York Prep’s academic support program designed to help students in grades 6–12, become independent, confident, and effective learners. The Learning Specialist will work with a small caseload of students, collaborating closely with classroom teachers, administrators, parents, and outside professionals to create an optimal learning environment.

The program’s goals are to help students build self-awareness, develop academic skills and strategies, strengthen executive functioning, and gain confidence and motivation to succeed.

Who we are Looking For:

• Degree in Special Education, Literacy, Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
• State certification (preferred).
• Two or more years of experience working with middle and/or high school students as a learning specialist, classroom teacher, or resource teacher.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Judith Hochman’s Writing Revolution is an advantage.
