Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Commercial Contracts Counsel.
Overview: MLA is seeking an Interim Commercial Contracts Counsel to support a key, time-sensitive, cross-border project requiring close collaboration across Legal and multiple business functions. An ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision, leveraging prior insurance industry experience to drive transactional and commercial work forward, identify issues early, and propose practical solutions. The role also requires strong collaboration and communication skills, including providing regular status updates and briefing senior executives on progress, risks, and next steps.

Experience: 7+ years of experience working in-house on insurance, reinsurance & regulatory matters
Location: REMOTE
Responsibilities Include:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including reinsurance agreements, captive reinsurance agreements, intercompany agreements, distribution and marketing agreements, and third-party administrative services agreements
- Create and maintain standardized templates and playbooks for recurring deal documents, such as reinsurance treaty forms, intercompany agreements, TPA schedules, key clause library
- Support commercial initiatives across multiple jurisdictions
- Support general corporate matters, record-keeping, resolutions, and subsidiary management
- Assist with regulatory filings, including regulatory submissions
- Collaborate with legal partners and internal stakeholders including business leaders in US & globally
- Provide legal analysis accounting for multi-jurisdictional frameworks
- Liaise with internal and external counsel across jurisdictions
Qualifications Include:
- JD degree from an accredited law school with admission to practice law in at least one US state
- 7+ years of experience working in-house drafting and negotiating commercial insurance and reinsurance agreements, with hands‑on experience navigating industry regulatory requirements
- Able to operate independently, issue-spot, and be resourceful
- Ability to work across jurisdictions, managing global time zones, as needed
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
Pay Rate: $120/hour
