Individual Life Underwriter

Job Description:

Fully Remote, 6+month long consulting position, Equipment provided, $40-$45 per hour, based on experience.

+We are seeking experienced Life Underwriting Consultants to provide short-term capacity support during a period of elevated demand. This role is ideal for underwriting professionals with strong traditional and accelerated underwriting experience who can independently evaluate risk, determine evidence requirements, and deliver accurate underwriting decisions in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical judgment, deep knowledge of mortality risk assessment, and hands-on experience interpreting multiple evidence sources including EHRs, APS, and prescription histories.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate life insurance applications using all available evidence sources including EHRs, APS, LifeScore, labs, MVRs, and prescription histories
• Independently determine and order additional evidence needed to complete underwriting decisions
• Render underwriting decisions within established authority levels for face amounts up to $2M–$3M
• Maintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready underwriting documentation and notes
• Collaborate with underwriting leadership, operations teams, and vendor partners to support timely case progression
• Manage rapid turnaround times while maintaining quality and accuracy during high-volume periods

Requirements:

• 5+ years of life insurance underwriting experience in traditional and/or accelerated underwriting environments
• RECENT Accelerated Underwriting experience
• Strong proficiency interpreting EHRs, APS, and LifeScore evidence
• Demonstrated ability to independently assess evidence requirements and make sound underwriting decisions
• Experience underwriting policies with face amounts up to $2M–$3M
• Strong understanding of mortality risk assessment, impairments, and industry underwriting guidelines
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Experience working within digital-first or accelerated underwriting models

Pay Range:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $40-$45 per hour, based on experience
