General Counsel

Position Summary:

A privately held, growth-oriented conglomerate is seeking a seasoned General Counsel to lead its legal strategy and operational efforts. The General Counsel is responsible for overseeing all of the companies in the conglomerate’s compliance and growth efforts to ensure best in class operational outcomes. This role guides all legal functions, aligns compliance with business goals and drives our decision making to ensure all decisions meet the rules and regulations of all applicable regulatory bodies. With a focus on enhancing efficiency, compliance, and client service across multiple related companies.  The General Counsel works closely with operations, finance, and external vendors to ensures compliance and sound legal decision making in all processes. This role manages and coordinates the legal affairs pertaining to company’s subsidiaries in the region including but not limited to labor issues, and implementation of corporate policies. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, operational leadership, and a proactive mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Develop and oversee the Legal Department, including setting structure, goals, and performance standards.

·      Coordinate with and oversee the work of outside counsel as necessary.

·      Oversee compliance with applicable statues and regulations, reviews pertinent laws and regulations, and provides legal advice to all company departments and staff.

·      Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and risk management policies to minimize and limit corporate liability, manage risk, and optimize value of contracts.

·      Offer legal counsel on organization structure, creation of new offices or divisions, and all foreign transactions.

·      Provide information and advice on all labor and employment law issues.

·      Prepare and review contracts to ensure compliance with laws and applicable regulations for all aspects of the company’s operations.

·      Partner with leadership to design and implement a forward-looking, organization-wide legal strategy that aligns compliance initiatives with the company’s mission, vision, and strategic plan, ensuring long-term sustainability, adaptability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Required:

·      3-5 years of progressive related legal experience.

·      Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution and be licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

·      Strong leadership, mentoring, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

·      Employment law or Technology and IP Law experience preferred.

·      Experience in Insurance operations preferably on the Agency or Insurtech side.

·      Familiarity with legal document management systems.

·      7+ Years of Progressive Legal Experience.
