General Statement Of Duties
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for elementary students while supporting the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church. The teacher promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits in a safe, inclusive, and faith?centered learning environment..

A teacher is expected to have competencies in the following major areas:

Knows and uses technology appropriately in and during instruction
Demonstrates an understanding in delivering the curriculum using the Rigor, Relevance and Relationship Framework.
III. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Works cooperatively with administration
Works positively with colleagues, support staff, and parish staff
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with students
Maintains positive interpersonal relations with parents
Iv. Professional Responsibilities
Plan and deliver age?appropriate physical education lessons aligned with state standards and school curriculum guidelines.
Promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship among students.
Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing safety rules and proper use of equipment.
Integrate Catholic values such as respect, responsibility, and fair play into physical education activities.
Monitor, assess, and document student progress and participation.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and staff to support school programs and student development.
Supervise students during PE classes, outdoor activities, and assigned duties.
Applicant Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Valid state teaching license or certification preferred, or the ability to obtain appropriate certification as required by the school or Diocese.
Experience working with elementary?age children in an educational, athletic, or youth development setting.
Knowledge of age?appropriate physical education practices, safety standards, and child development.
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical activities.
Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Commitment to supporting the mission, philosophy, and values of a Catholic school.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Teachers must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods. May need to climb stairs and lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to respond effectively to, and lead the class in emergency situations.
