District Manager – Retail Operations: Central Florida


Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, multi-unit leader to oversee retail and donation operations across six counties in Central Florida. This role requires frequent travel between store and donation locations.


As a District Manager, you will lead a large, geographically dispersed team of 200–300 employees across multiple retail stores and donation sites. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, strengthening operational performance, and building a culture rooted in development, accountability, and community impact. This is a highly visible leadership role that blends strategic oversight with hands-on support in the field.


Success in this position requires prior multi-unit leadership experience in a high-volume environment such as big-box retail, food service, or similarly complex operations.


Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and store leadership to deliver strong operational and financial performance across all assigned locations

Drive consistent execution of retail and donation standards, ensuring alignment across stores and donation centers

Partner with Human Resources and cross-functional teams to support hiring, training, performance management, and employee engagement

Analyze financial statements, labor metrics, and production reports to identify opportunities and implement actionable improvements

Conduct regular site visits and audits focused on production, cash handling, safety, quality assurance, and overall operational effectiveness

Build bench strength by mentoring and developing future leaders to support growth and succession planning

Communicate district performance, insights, and action plans to senior leadership

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Respond to customer and community needs in a timely, professional manner while reinforcing a service-driven culture


Additional Focus Areas

Continuously assess business performance and implement strategies to improve sales, productivity, and expense control

Foster a collaborative environment across stores, donation sites, and support teams

Ensure consistent training and onboarding practices to reduce turnover and improve team effectiveness

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence across all locations


What You Bring

Proven success leading multiple locations in a high-volume environment such as big-box retail, food service, or similar sectors

Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and translate insights into action

Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, develop talent, and build high-performing, engaged cultures

Experience driving operational consistency, process improvement, and performance management across multiple sites

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

A hands-on leadership style with the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment


Preferred Experience

Experience in thrift retail, donated goods production, or similar operational models

Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen or lean practices

Experience working in mission-driven or community-focused organizations


Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred

Minimum of five years of experience in retail or production environments, with at least three years in a multi-unit leadership role

Year-over-year revenue growth across assigned locations

Labor management, productivity, and profitability against budget

Development of internal talent and leadership bench strength

Execution of operational standards and merchandising consistency

Effectiveness of recruiting, hiring, and retention strategies
