Director of Preconstruction

My client is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Director to lead preconstruction efforts and oversee the planning, budgeting, and estimating process for complex construction projects. They are looking for a strategic leader who can manage client relationships, guide project development, and collaborate closely with operations and estimating teams to ensure successful project execution from concept through turnover.

Responsibilities:

• Lead all preconstruction activities from initial pursuit through project handoff
• Oversee budgeting, conceptual estimating, value engineering, and cost analysis efforts
• Manage and mentor preconstruction and estimating teams
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and internal operations teams throughout the planning process
• Develop and maintain project schedules, logistics plans, and preconstruction deliverables
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities
• Support business development efforts, client presentations, and proposal development
• Coordinate subcontractor and supplier engagement during preconstruction phases
• Ensure accurate project documentation, bid packages, and turnover information
• Drive process improvement and maintain high standards across all preconstruction operations

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of construction experience with significant preconstruction leadership experience
• Proven experience managing preconstruction efforts for large-scale projects
• Strong background in estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and construction planning
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, market pricing, and project delivery processes
• Experience leading teams and collaborating across departments
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
