Director of Environmental Services

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Services Supervisor to lead our housekeeping and laundry team. This role is vital in maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment across our long term care community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive janitorial and custodial experience, and a solid understanding of environmental safety standards, including OSHA regulations, and experience with ordering supplies and materials per budget. This position offers an opportunity to oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with sanitation protocols, and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness. Experience in Healthcare setting preferred.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning activities across designated areas, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
• Implement and monitor sanitation procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
• Train and mentor janitorial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and use of cleaning equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of work sites to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Oversee floor care operations including stripping, waxing, polishing, and carpet cleaning to maintain optimal appearance.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper usage and timely replenishment.
• Develop work schedules for custodial staff to optimize coverage while maintaining efficiency.
• Address any operational issues promptly, escalating concerns as needed to management.
• Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities, inspections, and safety compliance documentation.
  
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in environmental services, janitorial work, or custodial roles within hospital or commercial settings.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations related to workplace safety and sanitation practices.
• Experience with floor care techniques such as stripping, waxing, polishing, and carpet extraction.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, sanitation procedures, and environmental health standards.
• Leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and promote a culture of safety and excellence.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inspection and recordkeeping tasks.
• Prior supervisory or management experience in hospital or healthcare environments is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate clearly with team members and management regarding operational needs or safety concerns.
