Assistant Project Manager

Overview

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in delivering residential new construction and remodeling projects. This role is a mix of field and office work, helping keep projects on track, organized, and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support (90%)

Work closely with the Project Manager to support all aspects of active projects:

Project Coordination

• Understand project budgets, timelines, scope, and plans
• Provide weekly client updates (progress, schedule, and needed items)
• Help maintain schedules and job progress in Buildertrend

Financial & Administrative Support

• Assist with invoice collection, review, and approvals
• Support monthly cost updates for clients

Jobsite Support

• Help keep jobsites organized and clean
• Manage material deliveries (verify quantity/quality, handle returns)
• Conduct jobsite checks for progress, prep, and safety

Communication & Coverage

• Step in for the Project Manager when needed
• Attend internal meetings if the PM is unavailable
• Assist with punch lists and final project completion items

Additional Support (as needed)

• Help with ordering materials
• Assist in reviewing plans and troubleshooting issues
• Support quality control efforts
• Occasionally assist with client communication

Team Support & Mentorship (10%)

• Help guide and support runners and junior carpenters
• Assist with hiring, training, and performance feedback
• Oversee day-to-day tasks of runners
• Support warehouse, fleet, and general logistics when needed

Qualifications

• Experience in framing, finish carpentry, or construction
• Some project management experience preferred
• High school diploma required

Skills

• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Good communication (written and verbal)
• Basic math skills (budgets and costs)
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and learning new software
• Customer service mindset

Additional Details

• Local travel to jobsites and vendors required (mileage reimbursed)
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Role is approximately 50% field / 50% office
