About This Position
The Archives and Cataloging/Metadata Librarian supports the library through maintaining quality data records for the library's collections including archives. This position plays a vital role in archives processing, maintenance of materials, organization of archives inventory and archival displays and outreach initiatives. This position creates original and complex copy cataloging and metadata schema to ensure the discoverability and accessibility of library and archival materials. This position is responsible for the stewardship of the institution’s archival collections in accordance with professional standards. The librarian in this position is part of a team of librarians that serves students and researchers at the reference desk and participates in other relevant activities.

Required Qualifications
- Master's
- Library and Information Science or a related field with specialization in archives or archival coursework.
- (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- 1-3 years current experience working in archives or special collections library or equivalent experience in cataloging or metadata in an academic library.
- Knowledge of bibliographic standards (MARC, RDA, LCSH).
- Knowledge of library and archives content standards and structural standards for metadata.
- Knowledge of archival principles, standards, and best practices, including digital preservation.
- Experience working with both physical and digital archival materials.
- Experience with database management software, including Microsoft Office/365, cataloging systems, archival discovery tools, archival programs, and digital preservation systems.
- Provide accuracy in daily work processes to ensure data integrity in both the cataloging and archives environment and manage priorities and daily tasks effectively.
- Experience working in public services in libraries or equivalent experience in customer service and reference training.
- Capacity to learn new technologies, analyze and research best practices and adapt to the evolving library environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to foster positive and collaborative working partnerships and relationships.
- Ability to work independently in a small-staff environment.
- A combination of training and experience that provides the requisite skills and abilities may be considered.
- Master's
- Master of Library Science (ALA accredited preferred) or related field with specialization in archives or archival coursework
- Two years progressively responsible work within a library or archive facility.
- Prefer two years of current museum, archive, or library experience with cataloging and/or archives experience.
- Experience with integrated library systems.
- Experience working with library workflows and cycles of materials.
- Knowledge of records management, record enhancement with metadata and preservation.
- Experience helping patrons with reference queries and research or equivalent customer service experience.
