Trueline's client, a well-established residential design-build firm focused on high-end kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home renovations across Acton and Greater Boston, is seeking an Architectural Designer / Project Developer to join their team in Acton, MA with a mix of office work and local site visits. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for a seasoned residential design professional who can move projects from existing conditions and concept development through pre-construction support and into the field with confidence.
What You'll Do as the Architectural Designer / Project Developer:
Partner with clients and the internal team throughout the design process for residential remodeling projects
Measure and document existing conditions accurately for renovations and additions
Develop design concepts, plans, and client-facing 3D presentations
Help shape project scope, selections, and early budget direction
Perform takeoffs and support pricing coordination with vendors and trade partners
Compile estimates, specifications, and pre-construction documentation
Assist with procurement of specialty materials and project components
Support project handoff from design into construction
Visit job sites locally to coordinate with field teams and help resolve design-related issues
Update plans and details as project conditions evolve
Must-Haves as the Architectural Designer / Project Developer:
10+ years of experience in residential design and remodeling
Bachelor's degree in Architecture
Strong background in single-family renovations, additions, kitchens, and baths
Knowledge of wood-frame construction and how residential projects are built in the field
Experience working directly with clients in a consultative, service-oriented setting
Ability to collaborate across design, estimating, and construction functions
Strong plan development, documentation, and communication skills
Proficiency with residential design software, with Chief Architect strongly preferred
Ability to thrive in a small team where adaptability and attention to detail matter
Nice-to-Haves as the Architectural Designer / Project Developer:
Master's degree in Architecture
Prior experience in a design-build environment
Comfort supporting light estimating and pre-construction pricing work
Experience presenting design options visually through 3D tools
Ability to anticipate field challenges and adjust documents proactively
Our Client Offers:
Salary range of $90,000 - $120,000
