Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close
• Manage construction accounting processes, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, project billing, and revenue recognition
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Monitor project budgets, costs, change orders, and contract profitability
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of WIP schedules and support project managers with financial analysis
• Manage AIA billing, progress billings, retainage tracking, and lien waiver documentation
• Oversee subcontractor compliance, including certificates of insurance and 1099 reporting
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and year-end reporting with external auditors and CPA firms
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction or project-based accounting
• Prior management or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction financial reporting
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, CMiC, or QuickBooks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
• CPA or CMA is a plus
