Uncertainty kills business appetite. Not because ambition gets lost, but because we start questioning whats possible given the shifting sands. We hesitate and wait for a signal that it’s “safe” to move and we literally freeze. This is the reality facing business leaders today, and it’s a real obstacle to growth. Large organizations with shareholders, boards, and regulatory requirements are built for predictability. When uncertainty spikes, they’re forced to pause, reassess and wait for clearer data. It’s not cowardice; it’s institutional design. These organizations need certainty to justify big investments and protect stakeholder interests. That’s where we as entrepreneurs come in. We don’t have the luxury of waiting for extensive market research and certainty. We don’t pause innovation until the economic outlook clears. Uncertainty isn’t just our operating environment it’s our competitive advantage. While large organizations can be institutionally constrained from taking bold risks, entrepreneurs are structurally designed to navigate the unknown We’ve built our systems around predictability from forecasts to algorithms to same-day delivery. We’ve convinced ourselves things should arrive frictionless and on time. But entrepreneurs don’t work that way. And neither does progress. Our country wasn’t built by waiting for certainty. It was built by people who created it amidst uncertainty. We need both parts of this ecosystem to work. We need large organizations to take on the big infrastructure projects, the massive scaling, the long-term institutional building. And we need entrepreneurs forging new ways, building new opportunities, and proving what’s possible before the data says it’s safe. Right now, while markets fluctuate and supply chains reshape, while regulatory landscapes shift and consumer behaviour defies prediction, entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to lead. We’re the ones who will build solutions before problems are fully defined, who will create new certainties and scale into larger meaningful organizations. Governments need to quickly remove hurdles to enable us. Financial institutions need to back us even when the spreadsheets say it’s risky. Because Canadas biggest risk isn’t supporting entrepreneurs in uncertain times it’s in losing the people who create tomorrow’s opportunities. I really hope we see a Ministry that’s led by an entrepreneur and whose job will be to help enable entrepreneurs who think big, are risk smart and brave. If you’re an entrepreneur, Canada needs you more than ever. Not to be reckless, but to do what large organizations can’t and that is take smart risks especially when the path isn’t clear, act when others must wait and adapt when rigid systems can’t. Entrepreneurs are built for this. Not just to survive uncertainty, but to transform it into the foundation for what comes next. Let’s go Canada! ❤️🇨🇦💪

Why Strategic AI Partnerships Will Transform Disease Management as We Know It In healthcare, we're witnessing a pivotal shift: strategic alliances between tech innovators and pharmaceutical leaders are revolutionizing how we approach chronic disease management. The recent partnership between Viz.ai, Sanofi, and Regeneron exemplifies this transformation for COPD care. As someone deeply involved in medical imaging AI observability and monitoring, we've seen firsthand how siloed approaches limit patient outcomes. This collaboration represents something different - a unified strategy that combines AI-powered detection with therapeutic expertise. What makes this partnership particularly significant: ➡️ It tackles COPD - the fourth leading cause of death globally yet chronically underprioritized and undertreated compared to other conditions. It leverages natural language processing to screen EHR data against established clinical guidelines, identifying high-risk patients who might otherwise fall through the cracks. ➡️ It builds upon Viz.ai's extensive healthcare network (1,700+ hospitals with 60,000+ providers) to scale impact rapidly. The implications extend far beyond COPD. This model demonstrates how technology companies, pharmaceutical innovators, and healthcare providers can align their strengths to create intelligent care pathways for other complex conditions. We've seen some of the technology enablers such as Rhino Federated Computing, begin bridging medical imaging AI and pharmaceutical company needs. #HotOffThePress A few thoughts about our new article, "Designing a Successful Agentic AI System" in Harvard Business Review with Linda Mantia and Surojit Chatterjee. Many of us have used large language models chatbots like Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, where we use them as trip planner or tutor or practice interviewer, etc. We can call these AI agents. At work the can draft reports, do research, make slide decks, etc. And increasingly, if we provide specific context--like a set of health insurance policies--they can do more, like act as a "figure out my benefits" agent, for example. The latest development, which is what we write about in this article, is #AgenticAI. Now we are talking about a group of these AI agents who are managed by another AI agent, who is managed by a person. Increasingly, they're being given more responsibility and independence--Like they can answer customer service queries without a person needing to check every response. And then maybe they can start to fix a problem that a customer has--like find that missing package that got stuck in the warehouse. And then when they understand that there's a barcode printer that's malfunctioning--causing many package delays--and maybe they can even solve that problem too.... If you think about these kinds of technologies in your own work, you can start to see opportunities...and challenges. In your orgs, customer service reps probably do not have access to operational data and definitely don't have the authority to start fixing equipment. In a hospital, the scheduler for a procedure probably doesn't have the authority to pre-arrange home health services or share post-discharge notes translated into the desired language, either. We work in silos. But our customers' and patients' needs are more broad. They want good outcomes. AI agents can only help us if our underlying organizations foster their successful--and safe--integration. So how do we get there? How do we responsibly and safely build the tools to help our businesses deliver better services, using these tools? That's what this article is about. 🚩 👀 AI trust discussions are still largely Model-centric: accuracy benchmarks, hallucinations, bias metrics, and comparisons across models. 🚨 But as AI systems become more Agentic, outcomes are increasingly shaped by SYSTEMS, not individual models.
