Proud of our portfolio company Cemvision 🌍 Another strong step toward industrial-scale decarbonization in the built environment. Swedish energy company Vattenfall has signed an agreement with #Cemvision to use low-carbon cement solutions within renewable energy infrastructure projects, a major validation for next-generation cement technologies. At a time when the construction sector is under increasing pressure to reduce embodied carbon, partnerships like this show how climate innovation is moving from promise to deployment. Excited to continue supporting startups building scalable solutions for a more sustainable construction industry. #ClimateTech #ConTech #BuiltWorld #Decarbonization #Construction #Sustainability #CleanTech Juan N. Concrete is the planet’s most widely used resource after water - responsible for up to 8% of #CO2 emissions. To make cement, a key component of concrete responsible for the majority of its emissions, producers have to burn virgin limestone in kilns at high temperatures using fossil fuels. But Cemvision is pioneering a new cement called Re-Ment, which uses waste products from industry, fired at much lower temperatures in kilns powered by renewables. Together, these measures can cut the #carbon footprint of cement by up to 95% compared with conventional alternatives. Swedish energy giant Vattenfall has signed a deal with Cemvision to use the low-impact #cement in its renewable energy infrastructure. Vattenfall is a member of the First Movers Coalition, an initiative launched by the World Economic Forum to accelerate the decarbonization of heavy industry.
