We transform building infrastructure and environments to transform business.
About us
Communicator. Client advocate. Business person’s engineer. These aren’t typical descriptions for engineers, but they are all great ways to describe us. Since our first day of business in October 1999, and on the hundreds of projects we’ve completed, we help our clients make good business decisions about their systems and spaces. We take complex engineering information and make it easy to understand – so that they in turn can make smart decisions. We started our business during the height of the dot com boom. The internet age set new industry expectations for design projects: schedules were especially tight; a majority of the overall project cost, the MEP engineering and installation had a direct impact on a company’s bottom line; and clients wanted to be informed about the status their project at all times. With an efficient project approach, and having a team that is both great at communication and thoughtful of our client’s business, we thrived in this new business environment. While the dot com boom didn’t last, it shaped the way we do business – even today – in a very successful way. IMPROVING THE WAY THINGS ARE DONE™ We have a talented team of over 200 professionals, well educated in their respective disciplines and many with great credentials behind their names. Beyond that, Improving the Way Things are Done is important to who we are as a company. We are always thinking about ways to use technology more effectively, design more efficiently, and communicate better.

Designing for Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) spaces is about aligning the facility with the manufacturing process from the beginning. In these high-stakes environments, where a single batch can exceed $1M, early design decisions directly impact cost, efficiency, and long-term flexibility. In our blog, “Three Lessons from Designing Cell & Gene Therapy Manufacturing Spaces,” Raymond Doyle, PE, LEED AP (Managing Director, Science & Technology) shares key insights from our experience designing CGT manufacturing spaces across the country. From why process should drive design, not cleanroom grade, to how air strategy becomes a major cost factor, and why smart compliance can reduce operational expenses, we break down what teams need to know before they start designing. It was great to attend and participate in the AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter April Luncheon! Our Managing Director, C. Bartlett Stewart, PE, took the stage to share insights on secure facilities and the value of strong partnerships in supporting mission-critical environments. Thank you to AFCEA International!
Another impactful luncheon hosted by AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter! Today’s monthly luncheon brought together leaders from across government, industry, military, and academia for an afternoon of insight, collaboration, and meaningful connection. We were honored to hear from our keynote speaker, Brig. Gen. Ivory D. Carter, Deputy Commander of the Department of Defense Cyber Defense Command (DCDC). His perspective on DODIN operations, defensive cyberspace efforts, and the importance of synchronized global defense actions highlighted the critical role of cyber in enabling mission assurance across all warfighting domains. We also appreciate insights from our small business speaker, Bart Stewart, who shared valuable expertise on secure facilities and the importance of strong partnerships and trusted advisory relationships in supporting mission-critical environments. AFCEA CMD luncheons continue to serve as a platform for thought leadership, professional growth, and strengthening connections across the GovCon ecosystem. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a great turnout — and to those working behind the scenes who make these events possible. We look forward to seeing you at the next one!

One of the most important decisions in designing a manufacturing space, especially in a Science & Technology environment, is how much to expose the product during production. The choice between an open or closed process directly influences cleanroom classification, airflow strategy, operating costs, and long-term flexibility. In our blog, ‘Open vs. Closed Processes: Choosing the Right Approach for Manufacturing Facilities,’ Raymond Doyle, PE, LEED AP (Managing Director, Science & Technology) discusses the difference between open and closed processes, how they affect facility design, and when each is appropriate. It was great to have our team - Gregory Brenner (Managing Director, Technical Advisory), Asya Hackett (Senior Associate), Sarah MacLean, LEED AP (Associate Principal), and Christopher Carmona (Business Development Manager) - back in Las Vegas for the EV Charging Summit & Expo! A highlight of the week was the panel, “Speed Up and Streamline Installations: Strategies for Shortening Deployment Times,” where Gregory Brenner and Sarah MacLean joined industry peers to share insights on accelerating EV charging deployments. This year was all about connection, collaboration, and continuing to strengthen our presence in a rapidly evolving industry. From panel discussions to networking events, we had the opportunity to engage with developers, equipment providers, software vendors, valued industry partners, and other key players shaping the future of EV infrastructure. We also leaned into more intentional networking this year - hosting our event, “Roll the Dice” on March 18 - which opened the door to new conversations and meaningful relationships that will carry forward well beyond the conference. Thank you to EV Charging Summit & Expo, and to everyone who took the time to connect with us! If you attended, we’d love to hear about your experience and explore collaboration opportunities. Don’t hesitate to reach out! #WBEngineers #ElectricVehicles #EVCharging #EVInfrastructure
