Most manufacturers believe they control their Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) data simply because they paid to create it. However, as digital EPD systems become more integrated with procurement platforms, specifications, product databases, and reporting ecosystems, manufacturers are beginning to ask critical questions: - Who can access our data after publication? - How portable is it? - What happens if we change providers, platforms, or program operators? - How do we maintain flexibility as digital requirements continue to evolve? The industry is transitioning beyond static PDFs. EPDs are becoming integral to a broader digital infrastructure that impacts purchasing decisions, specifications, reporting, and market access. This shift emphasizes the importance of long-term access, interoperability, and platform dependency, especially for manufacturers managing expanding EPD portfolios.
