Last week, the Voxel team joined The Home Depot Safety Summit, an event that brought together enterprise safety leaders from across the organization to explore what the future of workplace safety looks like. The conversations reinforced something we hear consistently from the best safety programs: the most forward-thinking teams aren't treating safety as a standalone function. They're connecting it to operations, to data strategy, to the systems that run their business. A few themes that stood out from our time on the floor: ➡️ Strong interest in applying #computervision #AI across non-traditional use cases, from learning and development to merchandising execution and analytics ➡️ Questions centered not on whether to deploy AI, but how to scale it across complex, multi-site enterprise environments ➡️ Recognition that operational inefficiency and #safety risk are often the same problem - just measured differently This is exactly the kind of thinking that drives what we build at Voxel. Thank you to The Home Depot for hosting a summit that takes innovation seriously. And to our team - Vernon O'Donnell, Brittany DeRafelo, Kady Olson, MS, CSP and Zach Ledner- for the great conversations and representation!

We're heading to American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) #Safety2026, and we're bringing a conversation the industry needs to have. AI is changing how organizations manage workplace safety. But technology alone doesn't protect workers. Trust does. Voxel's Brittany DeRafelo, Director of Customer Solutions, will lead a panel at Safety26 alongside safety leaders from Macy's, United States Cold Storage, and MS International on exactly that challenge: how do you introduce AI in a way that earns buy-in instead of creating resistance? 🔷 Session 5061 | Working Smarter, Not Harder: Embracing AI Without Forcing Adoption 🔷 Monday, June 15 | 4:15–5:15 PM PT | Anaheim, CA 🔷 Panelists: Brittany DeRafelo (Voxel) · Lisa Battino (US Cold Storage) · Terri Rybacki (Macy's) · Shane Quinn (MS International) If you're attending Safety26, stop by Booth #4441 to meet the team. 🔗 Link in comments to connect with us at the event!

What does a 3–4x ROI in year one look like in industrial safety? Vernon O'Donnell, Voxel CEO, joined Matt Waller on the Doing Business in Bentonville podcast to break down how #appliedAI is transforming workplace safety from a cost center into a strategic lever with measurable results. The real insight: safety problems are often symptoms of operational problems. Fix the operation, and the safety outcome follows. The link to the full episode is in the comments. Thank you to Matt Waller for the conversation!

The AI protecting workers on warehouse and distribution center floors starts with the people building it. Our Chief People Officer, Alicia Mandel, sat down with StrategicCHRO360 to share what she's learned leading HR at a fast-scaling tech startup - from hiring for culture fit over pedigree, to building genuine community in a remote-first environment. Worth a read for any people leader navigating growth. #HR #workplacesafety #techstartup

The technology works, yet the deployment fails. That's the pattern we see when AI safety programs don't stick and it's almost never about the AI. Our own Brittany DeRafelo and Christopher Skipper, CSP, CFPS break down the five most common pitfalls derailing #computervision implementations in industrial environments, from worker trust and privacy concerns to cross-functional gaps that quietly stall even the most promising programs. Published in Occupational Health & Safety Magazine, this piece reflects what we've learned working alongside safety teams across warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing: real transformation requires more than real-time detection. It requires real buy-in. The full article link is in comments. #AIPitfalls #Workplacesafety #AIforSafety

We're hiring, and this one's different. Our Founding Forward Deployed Engineer will be the first person to define how Voxel deploys applied AI directly in the field. You'll embed with enterprise customers, build end-to-end systems in real industrial environments, and see your code prevent real injuries in real time. Every day, our platform watches over workers in warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing floors, catching risks before they become injuries. This role puts you at the center of that work. ◆ Full-stack or perception engineering background ◆ High-velocity builder who ships production-ready software ◆ Comfortable translating operational chaos into elegant systems ◆ Hybrid, San Francisco; $220K–$250K + equity This isn't a lab role. It's the front lines of AI that actually matters. 🔗 - Job link in the comments! #dataengineer #SFjobs

The definition of workplace risk is changing and most organizations aren't keeping pace. For decades, systematic safety management belonged to industrial settings: warehouses, manufacturing plants, distribution centers. The hazards were well-understood. The solutions were well-worn. Everywhere else operated under a different set of assumptions. Those assumptions are no longer valid. In a new piece for Automation.com, our CEO Vernon O'Donnell outlines two fundamental shifts redefining how organizations must think about risk: ▶️ Environmental risk is now a first-class safety concern. Temperature excursions, equipment failures, and contamination events don't just create operational disruptions. They precede and predict human injuries. ▶️ The industrial/commercial divide is gone. Grocery stores, retail locations, and pharmacies carry the same hazard profiles as distribution centers, but have historically operated without the same safety infrastructure. The total cost of risk (i.e. workers' comp, general liability, productivity loss, and turnover) makes systematic safety management economically imperative regardless of sector. Applied AI is how organizations close that gap. Read Vernon's full piece! The link is in the comments. #AppliedAI #IndustrialAI #Workplacesafety

#RAP2026 is a wrap and it was a great one! The Voxel team came to Phoenix to connect with the retail asset protection community, and we left with a clearer picture of what's ahead for the industry. A few highlights from the week: ✨ Deepened relationships with current customers and explored how their challenges are evolving beyond traditional loss prevention ✨ Joined the conversation on operational risk. The retailers leading this space are thinking holistically: safety, operations, and asset protection as interconnected functions, not separate silos ✨ Our Head of Customer Solutions, Christopher Skipper, CSP, CFPS participated in the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Workplace Safety Committee Meeting, contributing to the cross-industry dialogue on building safer retail environments at scale The theme we kept hearing: the problems retailers face today don't fit neatly into one department. Applied AI that bridges safety and operations is increasingly part of how forward-thinking teams are solving them. Many thanks to RILA and everyone who stopped by Booth 503! #retail #assetprotection #workplacesafety #appliedAI

Marina Mayer from Supply & Demand Chain Executive covered our Risk Insights launch and she nailed the core shift: safety intelligence should find the people who need it, not the other way around. Risk Insights analyzes facility data around the clock and delivers concise, actionable briefings - by portal, email, or SMS - to the site managers responsible for keeping workers safe and operations moving. No dashboards to hunt through. No reports to interpret. Just the highest risks, explained, and ready to act on. Applied AI, built for the people on the floor.
