During Older Americans Month, VOA is proud to celebrate individuals like Ed Hill, a member of Volunteers of America Western Washington Carl Gipson Center, whose life reflects resilience, community, and tradition. From fishing the waters of Alaska as a child to building lifelong skills, Ed’s journey is one of perseverance and connection. The Carl Gipson Center is the perfect place for him to find community in sharing his stories and favorite halibut recipes with those around him. Ed’s story is a beautiful reminder that every stage of life brings something meaningful to give. Learn more about the Carl Gipson Center: https://lnkd.in/dNMJDCUV

About us
At Volunteers of America, we are more than a nonprofit organization. We are a ministry of service that includes 16,000 paid, professional employees dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. Through our hundreds of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America touches the lives of 2 million people in over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico each year. Since 1896, we have supported and empowered America's most vulnerable groups, including veterans, at-risk youth, the frail elderly, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions. Our work touches the mind, body, heart — and ultimately the spirit — of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services. Approximately 60,000 volunteers throughout the country help our employees deliver these life-changing services

VOA is honored to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Day of Service alongside Humana, USAA, and CenterWell. Through partnerships like these, VOA continues its mission to help veterans access safe housing, critical resources, and renewed hope. We’re grateful for the hundreds of volunteers in Nashville, San Antonio, and Tampa who assembled 4,000 toiletry kits for veterans experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
Three cities: One mission! Humana and the VFW, in collaboration with USAA, CenterWell and Volunteers of America, will bring together employees, veteran advocates and community partners in three different cities on May 19 to support veterans experiencing homelessness as part of the fifth annual #VFWDayOfService. https://lnkd.in/gTBc8ZGE #StillServing #StrongerTogether #ForVeterans

It's Affordable Housing Month, and VOA is proud to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to expanding access to safe, quality housing for older adults, veterans, and families across the country. As alluded to by Dejernette Beaty, MBA, CMH, SVP of Housing for Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS), housing should never be out of reach. Join us in our 130-year legacy of working alongside communities to make sure people have a place to call home.
May is recognized as Affordable Housing Month — a time to acknowledge the importance of safe, stable, and quality housing for all. At Volunteers of America National Services, we are proud to serve older adults, veterans, and low-income families through affordable housing communities located across 37 states and Puerto Rico. Every community we serve represents more than a place to live — it represents dignity, stability, connection, and opportunity. As Dejernette Beaty, MBA, CMH, SVP of Housing, shares: “Housing should be a basic right for us all, and it shouldn't be dependent on how much money you make, your race, your gender. It's a basic need.” This month, we recognize the residents who make our communities vibrant, resilient, and welcoming — and we reaffirm our commitment to expanding access to affordable housing for those who need it most. #AffordableHousingMonth #AffordableHousing #HousingForAll #VOANS #CommunityImpact #SeniorHousing #VeteranSupport

We are still in awe of Volunteers of America-Greater New York's 29th Annual Gala! The support shown at this event highlights the critical need for vital services that assist those experiencing homelessness in the Greater New York area.
We’re still buzzing from the gala and so grateful for your continued support. We wanted to share a glimpse of the incredible evening with you—watch our video recap to see the best moments. As Dr. Jeffrey R. Ginsburg, President and CEO of VOA-GNY, said in his remarks: “Housing is literally the start. We know that when we can get people into affordable, permanent homes, their lives can change.” Your generosity not only drives VOA-GNY’s critical services but also fuels our ongoing advocacy to help more clients in shelter secure permanent housing. Your support makes this vital work possible. See you all again next year!

Technology has the power to bridge gaps in care, reduce isolation, and create healthier living environments for older adults – but only if it’s accessible to everyone. At VOA, we believe that providing reliable devices and digital support is as critical as any other essential service for affordable senior housing.
