🌀Hurricane season is less than three weeks away. Don’t wait until a storm is already on the horizon to start preparing your home and family. Many of these important tasks take time, planning, and access to supplies or contractors that may not be available once a storm is approaching. The USA UP STAR team wants to make sure you stay safe and prepared this hurricane season. ✅ Hurricane Preparation Checklist for your HOME When local Emergency Management indicates that the storm will be a threat to your area • Secure windows and doors with shutters or plywood if needed • Trim trees and remove dead branches near your home • Pick up or secure loose outdoor items that could become dangerous projectiles • Know your evacuation level and flood zone before a storm threatens • Inspect your roof for loose shingles or damage • Clean gutters and drains to help prevent flooding and water intrusion • Check siding, vents, and exterior openings for areas that may need sealing or repair • Stay informed Before the season begins: • Build or restock your emergency supply kit with: * Water * Non-perishable food * Flashlights * Batteries * Medications * First aid supplies * Important documents ⚠️ Safety Reminder: Use caution when working on ladders, roofs, or operating chainsaws and power tools. If you are unsure of your abilities or the work becomes dangerous, hire qualified professionals. No preparation project is worth risking serious injury. Prepared today means safer tomorrow.
