One of the most meaningful things you can do for your teen's future doesn't cost a thing: help them learn how money works before the stakes get high. April is National Financial Literacy Month, and whether your teen is earning their first paycheck or figuring out what to do with birthday cash, this is the window to help them build habits that stick. Budgeting, saving, and understanding credit. These aren't topics they'll pick up on their own. Our latest blog breaks down seven straightforward ways teens can start managing money with confidence, including tips you can work through together. 📖 Read the full article: https://bit.ly/3OOzvA1 #FinancialLiteracyMonth #UMCU

Financial literacy starts early, and so does the curiosity that comes with it. In honor of National Reading Month, UMCU team members visited twenty classrooms at Perry Early Learning Center in Ypsilanti to read Save It! by Cinders McLeod. The book follows a bunny named Honey who learns that saving with a goal in mind takes patience, but it's worth it. The kids didn't just listen. They shared what they were saving for, asked questions, and bragged about their piggy banks. A few said they wanted to save money to buy something for someone else. It was a reminder that the values we hope to see in our community are already taking root. We're grateful to Perry Early Learning Center for welcoming us in. #UMCU #NationalReadingMonth Mark Munzenberger, Nicole Bernacik, Jacinta N. Flint, MBA, Samantha Gilson

Student athletes are building their brands before they ever leave campus. At UMCU, we believe investing in that journey matters, not just for the athletes, but for the communities they represent. That's why we're proud to support the University of Michigan Men's Basketball team through NIL partnerships rooted in our shared commitment to this community. We've always believed in meeting people at the start of their financial journey and helping them build something that lasts. On February 18th, we got to see that partnership come to life at our Huron branch, a night that brought together players, fans, and our community in a way that reminded us why this work is meaningful. When we invest in the people in our community, everyone is better for it. #UMCU #NIL #MichiganBasketball #GoBlue #CreditUnion #CommunityFirst

Through our Toys for Hurley drive, UMCU team members, members, and community partners came together to deliver toys and essentials to Hurley Children’s Hospital, helping brighten the days of kids and families spending the holidays in the hospital. This long-standing effort is rooted in one simple belief: when we show up for our community, it makes a real difference. Thank you to everyone who helped turn generosity into joy. #UMCU #ToysForHurley
