Douglas County recently recognized child care providers and early learning professionals for their role in supporting children, families, and the local workforce. Access to reliable child care is closely tied to family stability, workforce participation, and long-term health outcomes. When child care is stable and accessible, families are better able to work and children have support in their early years. What stands out is the level of coordination required to move the needle. Behavioral health challenges intersect with housing instability. Family supports influence long-term outcomes. Access barriers affect nearly every service.
