In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, South Texas Health System Behavioral proudly hosted its Stronger Together: Community Connections Celebration, bringing together community leaders, law enforcement, advocates and healthcare professionals for an inspiring event centered on awareness, compassion and connection. The event highlighted the power of creating safe spaces and fostering open conversations around mental health, helping to reduce stigma and encourage individuals to seek support without fear or shame. Guests were also encouraged to wear green, the color of mental health awareness, representing hope, growth and renewal. Seeing so many participants dressed in green served as a reminder that no one has to navigate these challenges alone. Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make this event so impactful. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to bring together a group of UHS leaders and attendees for a unique mentoring and networking experience centered on connection, learning and growth. Through interactive table-talk discussions, participants rotated between conversations, engaging directly with leaders whose expertise, experiences and career journeys resonated most with them. The result was a morning filled with meaningful insights on leadership and career development. A special thank you to the 20 corporate leaders who took time out of their busy schedules to join us for coffee and conversation. Your openness to share your experiences made a lasting impact on everyone involved. Events like this are a powerful reminder that mentorship matters at every stage of a career, not only in finding mentors, but also in recognizing the opportunity each of us has to support and guide others along the way. Thank you as well to UHS TEAM CARE for organizing such a thoughtful and engaging event!

During our National Nurses Week celebration, our Executive Speaker Series featured an inspiring conversation with Brenda Woodcock, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for the Acute Care Division. Brenda shared her professional journey, beginning in medical‑surgical nursing. She spoke about how her med‑surg experience built a strong foundation, gave her exposure to many areas of care and allows her to connect with nurses across specialties. She also discussed her passion for women’s health and her work in high‑risk obstetrics, highlighting how each experience shaped her path. During the discussion, Brenda emphasized key ingredients for success, including focus, prioritization, preparation, a clear vision, strong communication and a supportive network. She also shared her enthusiasm for acute care, saying, “There’s something about being in the hospital on the acute‑care side. I love the excitement.” Reflecting on her transition into leadership and her journey to becoming a Chief Nursing Officer, Brenda reminded attendees of what motivates so many nurses: “When I started in nursing, I just knew I wanted to help others.” The session concluded with attendees coming together to celebrate our nursing team and recognize the dedication, compassion, and impact nurses make every day. We are grateful to our leadership team for taking the time to share their stories, experiences and insights with us.

This week, we proudly celebrate Hospital Week, a time to recognize the people who make healing possible every single day. Across our Acute and Behavioral Health hospitals, thousands of moments unfold that never make headlines but change lives forever. A nurse who stays after shift change. A physician who listens just a little longer. An environmental services team that ensures a safe space. A food services worker who brings comfort with a warm meal. A technician who offers kindness when it is needed most. Hospital care is not a single role. It is a community of professionals showing up every day. To our caregivers, clinicians, leaders and support teams across the country: thank you for the long hours, the quiet victories, the hard days, and the unwavering commitment to patients and families. From all of us at UHS, we wish you a Happy Hospital Week. Bravo to all Manatee Memorial Hospital staff on earning an A Grade from Leapfrog!
🩺The Celebration Continues! 🎉 An early morning sweet treat was the perfect way to continue our Nurses Week celebrations! Our teams started the day with cupcakes because a little extra sugar always helps to power through the morning. ☀️ Throughout the day, we also celebrated the incredible Leapfrog “A” score achieved across our hospital. These recognitions reflect the dedication our nurses bring to patient safety, quality care, teamwork, and attention to detail every single day. This week, we’re proud to celebrate not only the accomplishments, but the people behind them and celebrating them in meaningful (and sweet!) ways. Thank you to all our amazing nurses for everything you do for our patients, our hospital, and our community. 💚 #ManateeMemorial #NursesWeek #LeapfrogA
