Toyota Motor Corporation is actively pursuing a "hydrogen society" to achieve carbon neutrality by developing a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem. This includes promoting fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) like the Mirai, commercial trucks, buses, and stationary fuel cell generators, while advancing hydrogen combustion engines and collaborating on infrastructure expansion to produce, transport, and use hydrogen. Toyota Tsusho is expanding its hydrogen business globally, focusing on green hydrogen production, supply chain development, and industrial applications to achieve carbon neutrality. Key projects include onshore wind-powered electrolysis in Japan, biogas-derived hydrogen production in Thailand, and port decarbonization initiatives in the UK and the USA. Toyota Tsusho Canada, Inc. (TTCI) conducted a hydrogen blending trial at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, in Woodstock, back in June, burning a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas in one of the boilers producing steam for the plant. Each year, TTCI participates in the Canadian Hydrogen Convention in Edmonton. This year was especially exciting as TTCI presented the results of its hydrogen blending trial on the main stage, elevating the Toyota Tsusho Canada name and highlighting its contribution to advancing the hydrogen cause.

Did you know that recycling aluminum saves approximately 95% of the energy and CO2 emissions compared to mining and producing new, primary aluminum? Because aluminum is infinitely recyclable without losing its quality, it is a cornerstone material for a sustainable future. At Toyota Tsusho America, we aren’t just participating in the circular economy; we are actively building it. Through our strategic joint venture and subsidiaries—Altech Recycling, Missouri Smelting Technology, and Kentucky Smelting Technology—we have created a robust, end-to-end aluminum value chain right here in the U.S. Together, these facilities recycled well over half a billion pounds of material in fiscal year 2025 alone! #sustainability #earthday #earthmonth #aluminum #recycling

The Toyota Tsusho Group is committed to reducing our carbon footprint by 50% from our 2019 baseline by 2030. That translates to a reduction of approximately 113,000 metric tons of CO2, equivalent to the annual emissions of about 24,000 gas-powered cars or driving 282 million miles (approximately the distance to Mars and back)! At Toyota Tsusho, we recognize the power of ONE – ONE team working towards ONE goal to protect our ONE Earth. #sustainability #earthday #earthmonth

What does it take to be a champion? Few know better than TAI's regional instructor, Antonio Trompiz, the 1998 Latin American Skills Contest champion. Bringing this world-class mentorship to our regional partners is central to the mission of TAI's Mobility Division, which provides strategic support to the Toyota distributor network across the Caribbean, driving initiatives that enhance service quality and develop local talent. Under Trompiz's expert guidance, and with the team's support, the Caribbean's finest Toyota technicians gathered in Kingston, Jamaica, last month for the highly anticipated Caribbean Toyota Service Skills Contest—an event designed to elevate the skills of our regional network. The skills contest provided an invaluable opportunity for participants to develop their skills, network with peers, and advance their careers. Technicians from Toyota Jamaica, Toyota Trinidad, Vampt Motor (Grand Cayman), and C.C.I.E. (Martinique) engaged in rigorous challenges that tested their diagnostic abilities, technical knowledge, and hands-on skills under pressure. The event fostered a collaborative environment where participants could learn from each other, share best practices, and gain insights into the latest advancements in automotive service. This experience not only enhanced their technical expertise but also positioned them for future growth within the network, contributing to the overall improvement of service standards across our Caribbean network. After intense competition, C.C.I.E. (Martinique) emerged victorious, earning the prestigious opportunity to represent the Caribbean region at the Latin America Skills Contest, scheduled to take place in Brazil this May. This achievement not only honors Martinique's technical excellence but also positions the Caribbean to gauge its performance on the broader Latin American stage. "This contest is more than a competition; it is an investment in technical excellence and a testament to the caliber of talent across our service network in the Caribbean," said TAI Group General Manager, Harry Bodan. "It fosters collaboration, raises service standards, and ensures customers receive the highest quality of care." The skills contest highlights TAI's commitment to continuous improvement and regional development, creating pathways for technicians to advance their careers while strengthening Toyota's reputation for reliability and superior service across the Caribbean.

March 15 is Global Recycling Day and we’re celebrating with a spotlight on Missouri Smelting Technology, Inc. (MOST), a Toyota Tsusho America subsidiary! With two locations, one in Troy, MO and a second in Jackson, TN, MOST receives, processes, and melts aluminum scrap to produce high-quality molten and solid aluminum alloy products for use by other industries. In fact, in 2025, MOST recycled 375 million pounds of aluminum scrap! Importantly, 75% of that material was post-consumer, which is essential for a circular economy because it has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to producing new aluminum. Much of the material MOST receives is end-of-life aluminum products, ranging from automotive wheels and radiators to household goods like siding and cookware, as well as the aluminum fraction that is sorted from shredded cars known as "Twitch." MOST transforms the material into molten aluminum or ingots that can be used by customers to create new engine blocks or heads, A/C compressors, transmissions, drivetrain parts, and more. It's Pi Day (3.14) and we're celebrating with the team at Green Metals, Inc., a Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. subsidiary. The Green Metals team created this Pi symbol with 500-pound bales of industrial scrap metal at their state-of-the-art facility in Georgetown, Kentucky. Each bale in the symbol, along with all other ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal at the facility, will be recycled for future use in manufacturing processes across North America. This approach helps meet the scrap disposal needs of manufacturers and the ecological needs of the environment, all while maintaining ISO 14001 standards!
