Nurture. Aspire. Lead.

About us

We are a cooperative group of Veterinary Hospitals in North Carolina and operate After Hours Emergency, 24-Hour Emergency, Primary Care, HQHV Spay/Neuter, and Specialty Hospitals as well as Pet Resorts. We try to live with a "can-do" philosophy focused on growth in people, medicine, and service. Our organization is our people, and we work to challenge, develop, and support each other. We provide opportunity through growth in medicine, leadership, and ownership. We offer flexible positions geared towards veterinarians’ interests, work-life balance, and aspirations. We invest in our people, equipment, and facilities for the long term. Our CEO is a company founder, and we are 100% owned by the founding family and veterinarians. Our focus is to partner with future veterinary leaders and aspiring practice owners. Our preferred growth model is through joint-venture partnerships with veterinarians. We are flexible and generate growth through multiple channels, including acquisitions, start-ups, the addition of services, and organic initiatives. Growth initiatives are location-specific and built around individual practice leaders’ interests, strengths, and individual market opportunities. We always seek to develop relationships and welcome a discussion about career opportunities, whether in the near or distant future.

  • This PAWSitive Review goes to the team at Rolesville Veterinary Hospital, who showed up for a family during a seizure emergency, and kept showing up after. “I would like to share our wonderful experience with Rolesville Veterinary Hospital. Although we had always seen it nearby, it wasn’t until an emergency that we decided to bring our dog, who suffers from seizures. From the very first moment, we received exceptional care. The entire team—from the front desk staff to the nurses and the doctor—has been incredibly kind, professional, and compassionate. They made us feel supported during a very stressful time. Their prices are also very reasonable, which we truly appreciate, especially considering the high quality of care they provide. Medications are always available on time, and the follow-up care for our dog has been consistent and attentive, helping improve his quality of life. We are so grateful to have found such a trustworthy and caring place close to home. We highly recommend them for their excellent service, dedication, and the genuine care they show to both pets and their families.” - Angelica D.

  • Our Vets Pets family just grew by one. Welcome, baby Elias! His Mom, Kenia Figueroa, is the Practice Manager at White Oak Veterinary Hospital. Watching our team members grow their own families is one of the best parts of this work. Thank you, Kenia, for letting us share that smile.

It might be empty now, but soon it will be full of medical supplies, veterinarians, technicians, and pets! I'm super excited for July 3, when Vets Pets and Dr. Ethan Abrams will open AVL Animal Urgent Care in the Biltmore Village area of Asheville. We were almost ready to open when Hurricane Helene hit in Sept 2024. I'm so grateful for all the people who have remained committed to seeing this practice rebuilt, and love being a part of the wider recovery in Western NC.

  • When Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina in 2024, our nearly finished hospital was one small piece of a much larger loss. We are grateful to the Asheville community for the resilience they have shown, and to the partners and team members who stayed with us through every setback. The need that brought us here hadn't changed, so we rebuilt. Led by Dr. Ethan Abrams, who stayed committed through every setback, AVL Animal Urgent Care is moving forward with the same mission. To be here for this community and its pets when they need us most. Located at 17 Bryson Street in the Biltmore area, the hospital will offer same-day and walk-in urgent care to the community. We are honored to be part of Asheville's continued recovery. We officially open our doors to serve our patients in July.
