Last week, a group of CHOP supporters gathered to celebrate their collective impact through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Donations made to CHOP through EITC support our Hospital School Program, which provides individualized educational services to patients experiencing long or intermittent hospital stays. Besides helping with schoolwork, the program also brings a sense of normalcy to patients, helping to reduce stress during challenging times. Throughout 2026, we’re celebrating the many “firsts” that have made CHOP a world leader in pediatric healthcare. Today we’re highlighting the Richard D. Wood Jr. Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment's Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit (SDU). The SDU is the world’s first birth facility exclusively for mothers carrying babies with known birth defects, and its team has delivered the largest number of critically ill infants in the nation. More than 7,550 babies have been delivered in the SDU since it opened in 2008. Learn more about the SDU: http://ms.spr.ly/6046vROEY.
