Sutter West Bay Medical Group congratulates Kenneth Binmoeller on being recognized with the Rudolf Schindler Award by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Throughout his career, Dr. Binmoeller has helped redefine what is possible in therapeutic endoscopy. A prolific inventor with more than 50 patents, his innovations have led to new technologies and techniques now used around the world to help patients avoid more invasive procedures and recover more quickly. As founder and Director of Interventional Endoscopy Services at Sutter Health's CPMC, he has also helped build one of the country’s leading programs in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. His work reflects the spirit of innovation that drives our physicians every day: identifying unmet needs, advancing care, and improving patients’ lives. Today, leaders from Sutter West Bay Medical Group’s Neonatology and OB/GYN teams joined Gavin Newsom for the launch of California’s new “Golden State Start” initiative — a first-in-the-nation program that will provide free diapers to families of newborns delivered at participating hospitals. Programs like this recognize an important truth: supporting healthy beginnings means supporting families beyond the hospital walls. We’re proud to stand alongside state leaders and community partners working to improve maternal and infant health, reduce barriers for families, and strengthen support during the earliest days of life. For low-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis, the question has been durability. At 7 years, the PARTNER 3 trial offers a clear answer: TAVR and surgery perform similarly over time. Rates of death, stroke, and rehospitalization remain closely aligned, and valve durability is comparable, with low failure rates in both groups. Patient-reported outcomes and valve performance tell the same story — no meaningful differences. This work includes collaboration from David Daniels, MD, reflecting SWBMG’s continued role in advancing evidence that shapes how we care for patients with complex heart disease. Why it matters: TAVR continues to prove itself as a durable, less invasive option, giving patients and physicians more flexibility to choose the right path forward.
