We’re celebrating Jared Hovendick’s 20-year anniversary! Jared began his career as a Filler Operator at our Alexandria Minnesota Street location and after two years, he was promoted to Operations Technician. In that role, he spent many years building deep knowledge across all areas of the plant and generously sharing his expertise with others. He later stepped into a Production Supervisor role, leading overnight teams, and recently transitioned to days where he continues to guide a new team while supporting the broader facility with his experience and insights. Thank you, Jared, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment over the past 20 years—we appreciate all you do! #WorkAnniversary #EmployeeRecognition

Please join us in welcoming Brenna Gilman, who joins us as an R&D Packaging Engineer. Brenna brings strong technical and hands-on packaging experience from CPG and manufacturing, most recently with Jack Link’s and Medtronic. A Minnesota native and UW–Stout graduate, she’s based at EPIC and is excited to put her expertise to work across our network.   We’re also pleased to share that Jessica Dryke is transitioning into an R&D Packaging Engineer role after four years of outstanding work in FSQ at SunOpta. Jessica has been instrumental in improving and standardizing aseptic packaging integrity testing across our aseptic facilities, and we’re thrilled to see her bring that experience into packaging engineering.   Welcome and congrats, Brenna and Jessica—we’re excited for what’s ahead!

Bring Your Kids to Work Day 2026 was a hit at our headquarters! We loved welcoming dozens of employees’ kids for a fun, hands-on morning filled with creativity and curiosity. From sensory fruit snack activities and arts & crafts to mixing up special drinks in the young kiddos’ Flavor Factory beverage lab, there was no shortage of smiles. Our older kids even stepped into an R&D role, teaming up to design and prepare their own plant-based beverages for a mock customer, just like our teams do every day. Fun was had by all, and it was inspiring to see the imagination, teamwork and problem-solving on display. These future innovators clearly have bright futures ahead, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make the day so memorable. #BringYourKidsToWorkDay #SunOptaLife #WorkplaceCulture

As we approach #StopFoodWasteDay, the global awareness day dedicated to reducing food waste, we celebrate SunOpta's progress now and in the future. In 2025, we updated our Food Loss and Food Waste Policy and completed and trained staff on new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), so we can more efficiently get food to those who need it.
