The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have signed a memorandum of understanding, marking a significant step toward coordinated oversight of the cryptocurrency market. The agreement formalizes cooperation between the two agencies, with implications for how digital assets are classified, monitored, and enforced across the US financial system.

If you're not ready to file today, that's completely okay. Crypto taxes this year are genuinely a lot. 1099-DAs that don't match your records, cost basis that changed mid-year, DeFi transactions that didn't come with a manual. If your numbers don't feel right, rushing to submit them isn't the answer. Our CPA Justin Zanardi, CPA put together a short video on exactly what to do. It walks through filing an extension using the IRS's free tools, step by step. takes about 5 minutes and gives you until October 15 to get everything sorted properly. One thing worth knowing before you go: An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. If you owe something, that part is still due April 15th. But if you're genuinely unsure what you owe, an extension is the right call while you figure it out. Take the time you need. File something accurate. October is plenty of time to get there. youtu.be/Zg1yeq4pMhs

Summ now supports direct 1099-DA import from all 11 exchanges below Coinbase. Gemini. Kraken. Robinhood. Binance US. Crypto. com. PayPal. Cash App. OKX. Uphold. Blockchain. com. if you traded on any of them in 2025, a form exists, the IRS has it, and it probably has a blank where your cost basis should be. drop your form in and we match it against your full transaction history, fill in the missing basis, and reconcile anything that doesn't line up. the form is their record. Summ is yours. 😉
Summ now has complete Form 1099-DA support for Coinbase, Kraken & Crypto.com 🔧 If you or your clients received a Form 1099-DA from a US exchange this year, here’s what you can do: 1. Log in and go to the 1099-DA portal which can be found on the reports page 2. If you received forms from more than one exchange, upload each one 3. Summ automatically matches your transactions against every form to align with what the IRS expects If everything lines up, you're done. Generate your tax reports and file with confidence. If there are gaps or mismatches, we’ll highlight them and walk through how to fix each one before you file. One thing worth knowing: each exchange only reports what happened on its own platform. If you moved funds between wallets, used multiple exchanges, or interacted with DeFi — the form won't reflect everything. That's normal & that's exactly what Summ is built to handle. Haven't received your 1099-DA yet? Some exchanges are still issuing forms. You can also file a tax extension while you wait. https://lnkd.in/gNFt7zT3
