The “Safety Champion of the Week” program by the STO Mission Critical team and NTT Global Data Centers is setting the standard in Texas by rewarding individuals who speak up, step in, and look out for others across the jobsite. Nominated by their peers, these champions go beyond their own scope to keep everyone safe. That’s what Safety 360° looks like—everybody, everywhere, every day. One thing was clear when leaders from across our family of builders gathered in Boston last week for our spring management conference. Not only are we ready for the future, but we're also building it. Here's what went down: 🤝 Elevating client service Our clients' needs are evolving and our approach to meeting those needs has evolved too. We heard from our preconstruction teams who have saved millions of dollars for clients by utilizing AI and tapping into our vast library of data from previous projects. Our business development teams demonstrated deeply personal client experiences that span from intro to handover. 💻 Technology investment Our teams are integrating AI and other technologies into every corner of our business. From proposals to precon, it seemed like everyone had a story about AI making them more efficient. In an industry facing a wave of retirements and not enough new entrants to replace them, we're equipping our people with tools that allow them to get more done and improve quality while they're at it. 📈 Mission critical growth STO Mission Critical teams are building data centers in several countries. We discussed the importance of meeting sustainability standards and remaining harmonious with surrounding communities. Growth in new sectors, investment in professional development, the importance of leadership driving public conversations, and so much more rounded out the conference. It was clear at the group dinners that camaraderie among this team is at an all-time high and most of us are still baffled by the mentalist who performed and read everyone's minds!

Liquid cooling isn't just for gaming PCs. Connor Moore and Margie Carr of Structure Tone Southwest told us the real-world story of a liquid-cooled data center project that reduced the amount of racks needed by more than half. #stomc

There’s no doubt that public work requires a different approach from private. Thankfully, our family of builders—especially Layton Construction and Ajax Building Company—have a long history of public experience and expertise, and all of our clients can benefit from it. Add to that our deep bench of subject-matter experts, procurement resources, and many others, and communities across the country have top-notch expertise at their local fingertips.

Public construction demands more than private work: multi-year approval processes, public stakeholder scrutiny, and buildings that must serve communities for 50+ years. We've built nearly 300 public facilities. Here's what we've learned: → 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 - Years before groundbreaking, help officials assess delivery methods, materials, and design decisions → 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 - Anticipate what needs public approval and keep officials ahead of potential issues → 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗹 - Specify durable materials and efficient systems that serve communities for generations → 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 - Design for multiple uses, future technology, and evolving community needs Read the full guide on what it takes to build in the public eye. https://lnkd.in/gK7y_i6T

Last month, office attendance looked a little…different. In fact, the average height took a dip on Bring Your Child to Work day as kids swarmed offices across our organization. 👷♀️🦺👷 Our future builders came ready to work with their PPE on and LEGOs in hand. One stand out moment came from our Layton team, who introduced Safety Sam, our new safety character, who made learning about safety fun and memorable. He even debuted his own book! Story time + family time + big smiles = success ✅ Days like this remind us that what we build goes beyond projects. We’re building community, culture, and future leaders. Thanks to our teams and families for making it such a memorable day! #bettertogether #STOBGcommunity

As construction technology becomes more mobile, the Structure Tone Ireland team ran controlled trials to test BIM technology live in the field. Through the process they identified opportunities to empower their site teams and subcontractors by putting more accurate information in their hands at all times. In construction, connection matters. With one of the highest suicide rates of any industry, RC Andersen , Structure Tone Pavarini North East, and STOBG employees came together with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at Bear Mountain to raise awareness and funding at local Construction Hikes for Hope events. We’re proud to stand with AFSP to raise awareness, fund research, and support those affected by suicide—one step at a time. #bettertogether #familyofbuilders #STOBGway #mentalhealthawareness #suicideprevention

Construction safety metrics have traditionally focused on what’s already happened—but warning signs can be visible even before the work begins. This Construction Safety Week, we’re embracing the theme All in Together by strengthening how we recognize, respond to, and respect jobsite risks. Our leading indicators initiative uses data-driven insights to identify high-energy hazards, project pressures, and early warning signs—so teams can take action before incidents occur. By recognizing risks early, responding with the right controls, and respecting every decision, we’re building safer outcomes for everyone on site.
