💙 Match a Gift Today 💛 Every dollar donated before midnight will be doubled up to $1,000 thanks to the kindness of a dedicated supporter. One of the neighbors your support helps is Shakira. Shakira first came to St. Vincent de Paul nearly 20 years ago after learning she was expecting her son. At the time, she was attending art school with little family support and did not know where to turn. At our community center, Shakira found infant supplies, support services, and compassionate care for women and children. Over the years, St. Vincent de Paul has remained part of her support system as she raised her children, providing resources, community, and family events that reminded her she was not alone. ❤️ “You come to St. Vincent, you add another community of people that really care,” Shakira shared. “I come here, my kids be needing stuff and I don’t got it...When I leave here, I get home I look like Super Mom.” Every day, our community center welcomes more than 80 guests with clothing, laundry, showers, hygiene products, and support services in a safe and welcoming environment. At St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County, we believe generosity should be put into action quickly. Donations made today go directly to work helping neighbors facing hunger, homelessness, and hardship throughout our community. Before this matching opportunity ends tonight ⏰, we invite you to help provide hope and support for neighbors like Shakira. 👉 DONATE NOW: https://lnkd.in/gjvjqsvm To donate online, please select the “Match a Gift this Week” designation. We are thrilled to welcome Liz Davis, MA, CFRE as the new Executive Director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County. Liz brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, and mission-driven growth. Equally inspiring is her deep commitment to faith, service, and community, reflected in her active involvement in her local parish. Yesterday, our community of staff, volunteers, Vincentians, and city leaders came together to celebrate and welcome Liz. Joined by Fr. Aidan McAleenan of St. Columba Church for a blessing of our space and mission, it was a meaningful moment filled with gratitude and hope. Please join us in warmly welcoming Liz. Volunteer Spotlight💙🍽️ As Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close, we are proud to recognize Riley. Riley first came to St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County to complete community service hours for school, but what started as a requirement quickly became something more meaningful. Today, he volunteers weekly in our dining room, helping prepare meals for the guests we serve with dedication, compassion, and an inspiring work ethic. When asked why he chose to serve in our dining room, Riley shared: “Food is really important to me, not just because you need it to live…but because culturally it is a way for people to connect.” And that is exactly what Riley helps create each week: connection. Through the meals he helps cook, he brings people together, connecting our guests not only with nourishing food, but with one another and with our wider services. We are grateful for young leaders like Riley, whose commitment reminds us that service has the power to build community at any age. #VolunteerSpotlight #CommunityConnection #Volunteerism

What does a 9-week culinary training program actually change? For Carneish, everything. She’s been baking since age four, a tradition passed down through the women in her family. When she joined St. Vincent de Paul’s Kitchen of Champions (KOC), she came for the skills. She stayed for the transformation. "I'm learning how to delegate, how to trust others, and how to collaborate. That's huge for me." KOC equips low-income and disenfranchised individuals with hands-on training, classroom instruction, and professional development. The program creates pathways to living-wage careers in the culinary industry. Carneish is already planning her next chapter: a traveling bakery, a future brick-and-mortar shop, and an inclusive menu featuring sugar-free, vegan, and gluten-free options. "Every bake is a tribute to the women who came before me. It's my turn to carry the torch." We're looking for partners to help more people like Carneish access the training they need to thrive. Will you join us? #KitchenOfChampions #WorkforceDevelopment #CulinaryArts #SVdP #CommunityImpact #FeedClotheHouseHeal
