At our Horizons location in Waukegan, we took time to celebrate moms, mother figures, and all the people who nurture, support, and inspire those around them. As part of the Mother’s Day celebration, each woman received a succulent as a small token of appreciation — a reminder of growth, care, and resilience. This week our employee resource groups came together to support connection, community, and meaningful causes across our organization. On Monday, our Women’s Initiative Network hosted a Mother’s Day card-making event, giving employees an opportunity to create thoughtful messages for the important mothers and caregivers in their lives. Tuesday and Wednesday, the Women’s Initiative Network also hosted “Sip, Swap & Shop” — a resale event featuring gently used men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. It was a great way to encourage sustainability, connect with coworkers, and give items a second life. On Wednesday, our Community Action Network welcomed Michael Wos, Executive Director of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, for a Lunch & Learn focused on fire safety and prevention, burn camp program, firefighter support, and mental health and wellness initiatives. A big thank you to everyone who helped organize and participate in these events. In celebration of Earth Day, our Waukegan team came together to make a small but meaningful impact on their community and environment. They spent the day giving back by distributing reusable tote bags and seed packets—encouraging sustainable habits both at work and at home. They also rolled up their sleeves for a local trash cleanup, doing their part to keep Waukegan beautiful and reduce waste in our shared spaces. Our Middleton Employee Resource Groups have been hard at work creating meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, and a little fun along the way. Last week, our Family Network hosted an educational session on planning for elderly care. A big thank you to Oasis Senior Advisors for sharing valuable tools and guidance to help our associates navigate important decisions for their loved ones. This week, our Vibrant ERG brought some well-deserved creativity and relaxation with an Earth Day–themed afternoon. From painting pots and planting succulents to building LEGO flowers and enjoying a screening of Wall-E, it was a great way to recharge and celebrate together. In recognition of Neurodiversity Month, our Mosaic ERG also hosted an engaging and informative event focused on fostering greater understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace. This week, 14 of our volunteers spent time at the Clubhouse of Gilda's Club Wisconsin in Middleton for a meaningful Spring Cleaning effort. From vacuuming and dusting to mopping and even spackling a creative wood project (which will be featured as a game at their Backyard BBQ that SWF is sponsoring this summer!), the team jumped in wherever help was needed. Before getting to work, our volunteers had the opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about the incredible range of services and support Gilda’s Club provides—especially for children and families affected by cancer. Sign-ups kicked off yesterday for our annual BEx Games at our Middleton headquarters! 🎉 To celebrate, our Culture Club treated everyone to bagels and a variety of flavored cream cheeses—because every great competition starts with great fuel. 🥯 Now the real fun begins as teams of six start forming, brainstorming creative team names, and planning their costumes for the big event in May. Our Middleton Family Network kicked off their very first Family Night Out in a big way! 🎉 On Friday, April 3rd, families came together at the Madison Capitols hockey game for an evening of connection, fun, and community. Attendees enjoyed the Eagles Nest and Suter Suite, along with plenty of delicious food—pizza, fruit, veggies, appetizers, and drinks for everyone. While the Madison Capitols fell to the Green Bay Gamblers on the ice, the night was still a huge win for everyone involved. From shared laughs to quality time with family and colleagues, it was an unforgettable experience.
