Our very own Clinical Director Michelle Muro was one of the presenters on April 10 at the NAU C-CART Conference. C-CART stands for Culturally Centered Addictions Research Training. "From our perspective, the SB&H–NAU partnership is a strong example of how community-based clinical services and academic research can complement one another," stated Dr. Ramona Mellott and Dr. Julie Baldwin, Multiple Principle Investigators for C-CART. "NAU works closely with our community partners as they design the research study and SB&H provides essential clinical expertise, real-world service context, and valuable outcome data. This allows C-CART scholars to engage directly in applied, community-based research while learning from experienced providers and working with meaningful, practice-based data. SB&H’s role as a community partner is especially important in grounding the research in practical needs, supporting participant engagement, and ensuring that findings are relevant to the populations served. In turn, the collaboration supports ongoing evaluation and opportunities to strengthen services. We truly value this partnership and look forward to continuing to build on this collaborative work.”

When we focus on the person and not the diagnosis, we create more supportive conversations about mental health. https://lnkd.in/eH3RQPCR #SeeThePerson #MHAM2026 #SupportMatters

Sometimes the most important step is listening. Taking time to listen to the concerns of a young person in your life can help them feel safe sharing what they’re experiencing. https://lnkd.in/eF9-Z6WA #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MHAM2026

Parents and caregivers are often the first to notice when something feels different. Changes in mood, sleep, appetite or behavior may signal a young person needs support. https://lnkd.in/g-MkV6_n #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #SeeThePerson

Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, bonus moms, caregivers, and mother figures whose love helps shape the world in quiet and powerful ways. Motherhood is often made up of small moments that don’t always get noticed—early mornings, late nights, encouraging words, endless patience, and steady care through every season of life. Those moments matter more than words can fully express. To all the moms carrying so much with strength, compassion, and grace: thank you. May today bring you the same kindness and comfort you so freely give to others every day. Happy Mother’s Day

When salsa and Mental Health Awareness Month collide, good things happen. 🌶️💚 This month, our team took a moment to connect over something simple: salsa, chips, laughter, and community. While mental health conversations are incredibly important, so are the moments that help people feel seen, welcomed, and connected in everyday ways. Creating healthy workplaces and stronger communities is often built through small acts of connection—and sometimes, a shared snack table can go a long way. We’re grateful for opportunities to bring people together, encourage wellness, and remind one another that mental health matters every month of the year. Now for the real hard question: chunky or smooth salsa?

There’s something meaningful about taking a moment to care for the parts of ourselves we don’t always think about. May is National Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month—a gentle reminder that protecting your skin is an everyday act of care. Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers, but it’s also highly preventable and treatable when caught early. A few small habits can make a lasting difference: ☀️ Wear sunscreen daily 🔍 Check your skin regularly 🩺 Don’t ignore changes—get them looked at Resources from the Skin Cancer Foundation and the American Academy of Dermatology can help you stay informed and protected. Sometimes the smallest steps are the ones that care for us the longest.
