South Central Chapter of AAAE reposted this
Sundays at the AAAE Annual Conference & Exposition are always full—but they’re easily my favorite. Alongside Jennifer Richards and Lance Lamkin, A.A.E., I had the opportunity to spend the day hosting a record number of students from across the country in academic sessions. The energy, curiosity, and drive they bring make this one of the most rewarding parts of the conference every year. I also had the chance to reconnect with Otha Ward C.M. , MPA —the very first student I ever mentored. Seeing his continued success at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is something I’m incredibly proud of, and it’s a powerful reminder of why investing in and championing our students matters so much. Also a huge thanks to my Egis Aviation Team members Judd Hill and Matthew Tomasson for jumping into the mix as mentors!

Congratulations to new executive committee member Desiree Curtis, PhD, C.M.. Can't wait to see A.A.E. to your name!
Honored to officially walk the stage and celebrate completing my PhD journey at Our Lady of the Lake University. While I earned my PhD this past fall, participating in the ceremony and crossing the stage carried a deeper meaning. As a Hispanic-serving institution with a long history rooted in access, service, and uplifting communities, OLLU represents resilience, opportunity, and the belief that education can open doors across generations. Being part of that legacy is something I carry with great pride. As a Hispanic female in aviation, I’m proud to represent both my community and the next generation of professionals helping shape the future of the industry. My goal is to continue creating impact while helping shape a stronger future for aviation. And the journey is not over yet. Next up: earning my Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) designation. ✈️🎓
