ICYMI: As Americans observe Memorial Day, a solemn occasion honoring the service members who gave their lives for our nation, there lies an opportunity for reflection that extends beyond the ceremonial. Although parades, flag raisings, and moments of silence commemorate fallen heroes, this National Day of Remembrance can also serve as a meaningful call to examine how we support military-connected individuals in the workplace. How do I make the business case for joining the United Nations Global Compact? For many business and non-business participants, membership in the Global Compact is a natural extension and recognition of the work they already do. For example, organizations continue to be concerned about sustainability. A recent study, conducted collaboratively by the United Nations Global Compact and Accenture, showed that an overwhelming majority of CEOs surveyed (88%) saw a strong business case for focusing on sustainability. With the Sustainable Development Goals reflecting a global sustainability initiative, being able to connect with other organizations in the sustainability "space" is a key benefit of Global Compact membership. Beyond that, the Global Compact offers training, resources, and accelerators for participating organizations. A message from the SIOP Military and Veterans Inclusion Subcommittee: Do you know your history? In 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees. #IOPsych #SIOPSmarterWorkplace

Thank you Scott Tannenbaum for your insightful speech at our 2026 Annual Conference!
I greatly enjoyed the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) annual conference in New Orleans. As always, it was a chance to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, learn a lot, and have some fun (after all, it was New Orleans!). This year was especially meaningful for me because, as outgoing SIOP President, I had the opportunity to deliver the opening keynote address. In it, I reflected on the field of I-O psychology and shared 10 tips and personal challenges for staying effective and energized throughout one’s career. Afterward, it was gratifying to hear how people planned to apply those ideas. Several also asked whether I would share them in writing for SIOP members who couldn’t attend and for colleagues in other professions. I’ve now summarized those ideas in this article, and I hope you find a useful tip or two. I’d also like to take a moment to thank the dedicated SIOP professional staff and Executive Board for all their hard work this year! #SIOP26 #careeradvice
